Weekly Flylady Thread 28August 2023

Hi all
Well today was pretty awful at the paid stuff. But I did my best, and I got through it. Worked 7 hours without a break to dash off and meet DS1 to go to the big city so that he could get a blood test. Then I helped him to choose a new suitcase and raked around a couple of charity shops looking for trousers for him. Strangely because he is a 28" waist and 32" leg he seems to do really well in charity shops.
So basically I was out of the house for 12 hours, but brought in the washing and ironed our duvet cover while it was still damp because otherwise I will never get the creases out! Chilli eaten and kitchen put to bed.
ASB you are my flylady inspiration this week. I saw a lovely Nxt jumper in the charity shop, only £8, but I didn't need it and after all £8 is £8 right? So I put it back and walked away.
Is it really only Wednesday?

Still plodding on here. Mr N has had a bad week with blistered lips, constant tiredness, night fevers, weight loss etc and managed to get a GP appt today with 2hrs notice (impressive)......he has a viral infection. Should be easily sorted with antiviral meds so we are quite relieved as had begun to imagine all sorts of horrors. He'll need to delay his RA injection for a week, but can live with that. He also had the follow-up appt with the hernia surgeon and the wound is fine; he can start driving etc (although the AV meds warn of drowsiness). So hopefully by the time we go on holiday in 8 days time, we can draw a line under at least one of August's anxiety causes.
My Mum had a fall at the weekend but only bruised; my brother went down to visit yesterday (thankfully, as I've got enough with my own invalid to look after) so he will report back to me tomorrow.
BIL came up for a couple of days this week and mowed the lawn as the mower is a bit heavy for me and Mr N certainly can't do it at the moment.
So in between, I've been hoovering, tidying, washing etc as well as trying to continue running and swimming ready for next week's event. I've also resumed putting my CPD into the online log and likewise some drum practice.
Mr N's bike friend is out of hospital and staying with his son 70 miles away so we won't be visiting him for a while.
Have booked our flu jabs.
Keeping a check on finances which seem to be slipping away somewhat; paid credit card but need to check DD for utilities as it is too high.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.8 -
Morning all
Just a quick one from me as need to head off to work in a minute. Narco I’m sorry to hear you’re having a tough time of it. I hope September is a happier, less anxious month for you xx
YL - well done! Now is a really good time to re-look at finances for the autumn 🍂 months ahead.Almost September, my favourite month ☺️☺️☺️ Washing is on the line, it was 6 degrees at 5am but is warming up nicely now. I have WUDUPA, made my bed and had a quick shower. End of month electricity meter readings taken and submitted online. Email sent to boss saying I’m taking TOIL tomorrow.
have fab days all xx7 -
Morning xx
September is my favourite month too. And autumn is my favourite time of year. 1st September is my New Year's Day. (January just doesn't work for me! And the fact that Sept (7), Oct (8), Nov (9) and Dec (10) are now 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th months in the year suggests that 1st March used to be New Year! And if someone else moved it, then I can move it too 😊)
So that makes today my New Year's Eve 🥳
I'm up, made my bed and supped my first brew. Second brew and breakfast next. I'm meeting L for lunch at 11.45 but I can fly before and after.
To Do Today
WUDUPA
Feed the birds
Put out the recycling
Bring in the emptied bin
Write Christmas cards list
Write down a budget and goals for the rest of the year.
Smile 😃
Have a good day

Today i want to fly. Must read meters.
Yesterday, I hated my job, but some tactful messages got sent and I felt much better by the end of the day.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

Yes! Happy New Years Eve everyone! Finishing work soon, then I will get home and crack on. Early early night planned as I need to be at the docs for a smear test at 8am. I told them AF had arrived, they said no problem. it makes me really cringe but I guess they've seen worse! x7

I showered, dressed, fed the birds, put out the recycling and brought in the emptied bin before I went to meet L. L treated me to lunch at the posh farm shop cafe....and I wrapped half of my ciabatta up and brought it home for my tea. Then I called to have a coffee with Pops and I've not long since got in.
I've been invited out to tea on Saturday, Tuesday and Friday...and going to H's for coffee on Sunday afternoon. That's a lot of peopling for a hermit like me, but I've got downtime in between so I should be OK.
My tales of frugal living aspirations inspired L to ring her phone / broadband provider and get a better deal. So that's my good deed for the day. 😇
I won't be staying up til midnight to see in the New Year. But I may sup a glass of cider and give thanks for the blessings that this year has delivered.
Cheers 🍻

That is a wonderfully frugal day Round, well done! Well, I am having a glass of wine and cheesy pasta for tea. DS is eating his tea in front of the telly, DD is at a friend's house and we intend to be in bed by 7.30. See you in September! x7

I was not arrested.. I had several moments of utter rage.. to the point I had to cry on MIL'd friend for 5 minutes while I composed my rage.. I held her while she sobbed on me and OH and she patted my hand while I was shaking with rage.
I did not punch the FIL when he said Squeak was 'dressed like a tomboy' after he has said how beautiful Pixie was.I did not punch the FIL when he asked OH to sit with his nutcase sister whose neglect killed his motherI did not punch the FT when it looked at me.
SIL did not attempt to speak to me directly. She spoke to Pixie and OH but not me.
I have however been invited to the annual family picnic in May.. I shall need my mouth sewing shut and lessons with 'Enry 'Iggins so as not to lower the tone.
Apparently I am a lovely sparkly human being who just shines ... is that another way of saying I am a bit loopy?!
