Incidentally, have you come across the Age Positive Image Library from the Centre for Ageing Better? Probably not much use to you, but I use it a lot, and a LOVE the fact that it exists 😊😊

I don't think it's appropriate to ask - you might if you actually knew the person and could see something had changed, but how rude to ask that of a stranger!
Age is, more than ever before, a number - I have to keep reminding myself that my FIL is closer to 80 than 70 because he only stopped 'work' (very part-time) last year and doesn't in anyway behave like 'an old person'. Baby boomers are not ageing like the previous generations (thank you NHS, better nutrition, all the wonders of the 20th century!)!

I read and whistled in, wouldn't for a minute ask anyone how old they are. I find 'looking good for your age' quite an offensive concept, regardless of age, gender or styling preferences.(Looking thin for a fat person, etc)My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

I think it is inappropriate to ask that kind of question too.

Cheery_Daff said:I have no idea whether it's 'acceptable' but I suspect it stems from the general idea that 70 is 'old' and 'old' is 'bad', and therefore if you don't look what people imagine to be old, then it must be because you have had something done to yourself - and not because our general perceptions of what 70 years old look like are skewed.
In this case, I imagine she was just complementing you both on being beautiful 😊
But I still have issues with the idea that it's surprising that 'old' people can look good...
I think she was trying to give us compliments Cheery - backhanded compliments but we'll still take them 😂

I feel the same Madvix - it annoys me when people say you should act or dress your age. Act and dress exactly how you like - you don't have to please anyone but yourself.redofromstart said:I read and whistled in, wouldn't for a minute ask anyone how old they are. It's such a backhanded compliment Redo - you look great, oh but you're old 😂beanielou said:My mum is now in her early eighties.Fitter & way more active than me.Only finally retired at 79 & 3/4’s!One of my good friends is in her early 90’s & is amazing. Lives independently & is out & about a lot.
People do age very differently don't they Beanie. You can't really generalise.savingholmes said:I think it is inappropriate to ask that kind of question too.

Thanks SH. Best wishes for the move. Won't be long before you're enjoying your home and some lovely new views.

One Step Back
I may have done a little too much on Thursday as my blood pressure went up again and I felt poorly yesterday. I went back to bed for the morning and felt better after a few hours extra sleep. I got the minimum of chores done as I was concentrating on resting. I'm beginning to doubt my blood pressure monitor as it seems to give wildly different readings so have ordered another to be on the safe side.
We had boiled egg and marmite toast for breakfast yesterday, 10-Minute Couscous Salad for lunch and Oven-Baked Leek & Bacon Risotto for supper. I didn't do any exercise but will count yesterday as a rest day.
The kettle and toaster turned up and I love them 💓 They are a beautiful, warm yellow colour and really enhance the kitchen. I'm thinking of replacing my plant pots with some of the same colour to match.
Mr F has now serviced all the garden machinery and outdoor equipment except the mower. You can't get a workshop manual for it as the manufacturer channels all services and repairs through their dealers 😠 It costs more to service the mower than it does to service our cars so we'd much prefer to do the work ourselves. Hopefully the interweb will come up with the required information.
We had a long catch up video call with the Younger Fortunates last night and have some provisional dates in the diary for a visit. I've also booked some tickets for a Burns Night event at our local Brewery this evening. They were fully booked when I initially tried for tickets but advertised that they'd had a cancellation. I let a few friends know and there are now 6 of us meeting up so we should have a good night. It won't be a long one as they don't stay open late so, hopefully, I'll be fine.
Happy weekend folks.
