Awww, that is sad news, PiP. Yes, it's a worthwhile test, even though it doesn't feel like the nicest of things at the time. Young middle age is no age at all.

so sorry PIP. I second your encouragement to not ignore any worrying symptoms. My husband (before MrBC) died of bowel cancer at age 50 because he didn't want to take time off work to go to the doctor about what he thought were insignificant symptoms.

That was a young age too, @Blackcats & must have been very sad & difficult. It is an illness which seems to be affecting younger people than I used to think. It's especially important to get any concerns checked when you consider how many people have other bowel conditions which can produce similar symptoms. I have an inflammatory bowel condition & when I was diagnosed 3 years ago, the consultant really stressed how important the bowel test kits are for me to do because they may pick up things which I assume are 'normal for me & my condition' but are actually something else.

Sorry for your loss. Young middle age is no age these days. Absolutely agree that everyone should do the poo tests when they are sent to them. Better to know before things get to the stage where it become untreatable.

I was one of the beta testers for the bowel testing. So easy to use.
