    Happy Mondays everyone 🍻

Woke up to a message from builder saying we have to buy everything and finish the whole build in three weeks as the building controller is leaving his job.

Can't help but think builder is somewhat using this tenuous bit of news to hurry us into spending money.

Contacted building controller to find out why someone wouldn't simply be given his work cases.

    Half wussy situps

Various bits of build admin including paying Thames nearly 7k 😭

    Usuals

    Three receipt surveys

    Three surveys

Shower and hairwash using free toiletries

In an unexpected twist, the suppliers of the wrong tiles said its a 'manufacturing error' and that the tiles we ordered that were literally on the website and on our invoice do not in fact exist. We're being given a full refund but now do not know what to do about the tiles...

Over to mums to help with a phone issue. Consulted with her about the tiles as she's very good at telling me to wind my neck in but she agreed that we should put up with cost and palaver of replacing them rather than having everything in the bathroom look miserable because it doesn't go together. I did try really hard to convince myself they would be fine but there's only so many times you can look at a photo of your own home and have your heart sink

Researched tiles. The ones I want are nearly half a grand more so sacked that off. Found some that are acceptable.

Researched gravel boards, brain fell asleep, passed the task onto Mr PIP.

Met a friend for beer and natter (with camra discount)

Dinner is leftover takeaway pizza. I know its an indulgence but we do get a lot of meals out of one order!

So did you get to the bottom of why the building control person is not being replaced ? Are the tile people going to cover the cost of the tiles being taken off & being replaced?
Is there still a lot to be done?

We discussed and we're not pursuing them for compo @beanielou as we were expecting a fight to get refund and it's not really their fault that the tiles were installed. As I said in a previous post, we can't be everywhere at once and while it would have been ideal for them to send the effing thing that was ordered, and for our builders to have checked what was sent, you gotta choose yer battles. It's our choice to replace them and we are okay with that as it will bring us pleasure rather than despondency.

Building Controller has replied and said he'll be around for a few months, so either mixed messages or our builder heard what he wanted to hear to nag us. Either way, no current problem.

There is an absolute sh*te-ton still to be done 😂

Thames alone can take up to four months and who knows what the frik is going on with the council's insistence that we reinstate the kerb, that paperwork can take up to a year but we'll just have to illegally squat in our own house on our own land 🙄
