I'm with you on separate kitchen/ living room. Cooking smells should be kept in the kitchen, however lovely something tastes, I don't want to be smelling curry, fish or onions etc all evening!

Very true @foxgloves I'm not particularly against open plan, it just doesn't feel right for this space. We were originally going to put it in then decided it would be too dark, but since the whole place is dark anyway I'd rather have the ability to have kitchen cupboards/living room book shelves

And as you say @kayannie, in a small space we will be smelling everything in the whole downstairs, and going up the stairs too!

We'll get a quote and if it's daft, we will see how we get on once we're in. But as I mentioned a while ago, because it's small and dark we're leaning into the cosy cottage style, and a small kitchen for being wholesome (ha!) in, and a small living room for being snuggly in, would work better for that style

We are overwhelmed by choice. It exhausts us. When I travel and then come home I am shocked that we have a whole aisle with crisp choices on both sides. The radiator valve choices sound exhausting.

Lofts are usually really warm anyway as the heat of the house goes up.

Off to look up cottage core…

Will bear in mind if I ever have the energy to look at anything new @WelshmansDaughter!

It is so exhausting @doingitanyway and we have to do this level of research and gaining knowledge and choosing for every single item. Next up is plug points and light switches and bulb ceiling roses...

Take a deep breath and think it will all be worth it in the end and all this carp will become a distant memory 🙏🤞

dont forget to have plug sockets with usb on them at startegic places to charge phones etc up

So definitely bedroom and kitchen and other places as they are not much more expensive than a normal socket.
