  • Thank you @ladyholly, I expect that will be coming shortly, just after all my competition hampers arrive

On another note, have any other survey-doers received an email link for an £8 payment from Grail Insights via tremendous? I have no recollection of doing such a survey and have never heard of Grail Insights...

    On anothernother note,

That wordle has earned the right to smug.  I've only managed that once.  As for the one that obviously ended in AUNT.  Do you know how many words end in that.  I mean just how many times can you get the wrong one.  If you are me then every single one
  • @PennysIntoPounds - Wordle! Not played that for ages! I just did it and got it in 3! Fluke though as my first word (which I always use) had the first letter correct, and had one other letter but in the wrong place... plus it's a word we use at work as it's related to the things I work on/in :)

Thank you - it will be on my list of to dos each morning

  • Very wise @dawnybabes, though I'll keep on asking every time you report a win in case of a change 😁

My guess definitely didn't end in 'aunt' @badmemory or I would have got it in 6 or not at all and kept schtum 😂 I always fail miserably when it's US spellings too

Well done @Spendywendywoo, I don't do it every day but try to when I remember (okay, when I see someone else has and I get competitive 😁). Good brain exercise though, well worth doing

I've never done Wordle, although I do usually like word puzzles We are both getting better at cryptic crosswords though. We've learned to do them from last summer when we began doing the Saturday Guardian 'Quick cryptic'. Neither of us had ever managed to fathom the arcane laws of cryptic crosswords before. We have now progressed to the Observer 'Everyman' & can usually finish that. The main Saturday Guardian cryptic seems much more difficult, at least to us beginners. Occasionally we can get a few words in, but sometimes, none whatsoever. Never mind, it's a start. We buy the weekend papers anyway, so it's free fun & does keep the little grey cells lubricated. Wish I had got into them while my Dad was still with us. He enjoyed them & was good at them. It's something we could have done together while he was so poorly. Ah well, never too late to learn new skills.

If ever there are 2 choices I ALWAYS pick the wrong one.  Have you tried the three versions of Octordle.  Well I need something to keep me out of mischief.
  • Ah that's poignant @foxgloves but he's left you with the ability to engage with them so you're continuing the family cryptic crossword line. Sorry if I've been a bad influence encouraging you into doing them 😁 They are so blimmin frustrating when you just have no idea!

Know the feeling @badmemory, not done Octordle, have to save some brain cells for 'the world's most fiendishly difficult literary puzzle'! Has your copy arrived?

  • Clicked on the £8 amazon voucher link and nothing dreadful occurred so that's a nice wee bonus

    Spec work
    Usuals

20 minute walk getting essentials and part using a survey voucher to save a couple of quid

Small clean of one room using reusable microfibre cloth

    Spec work

    A third wussy situps

Checked out savings rates, mine are all much of a muchness. I don't want to open anything new in case build miraculously happens and I need to make my nonexistent credit rating decent. I appreciate I may be mugging myself off here. Saves a boring job though!

Entered some competitions, today I'm mostly looking forward to winning a 1.5k sainsers voucher

Little walk with Mr PIP for beer, did admin bits and bobs

Dinner is using up crackers with cheese, and various salad sticks with hummus. Might have to have a tot of port with it. Though we may need to repeat this meal sometime soon as Mr PIP bought more crackers 'in case we didn't have enough'. Terrible shame but I shall endeavour to be brave if need be
