? but an email address doesnt give home address
It's as described in post #3 of this thread.

They match the email addresses between a BBC ID used for iPlayer and an email address previously given in either a Licence application, or a "No Licence Needed" submission.    The Licence/No Licence info will include the street address.
Moral of the story, never ever communicate with the BBC in any way. Certainly, never give them your postcode or address. If you want to use BBC sounds, (nothing illegal in that) use a disposable email address.
I occasionally listen to some of the old series, such as Men from the ministry, though they seem to have neglected these good shows in their archive of late.

As I understood it, this would require a TV licence.
I went to check the rules but, instead of a simple definition, it's all dumbed down to video clips that I could not be bothered to view.

It does say "A TV Licence covers you to:
Watch live on streaming services (like ITVX, All 4, YouTube and Amazon Prime Video)."

Is Netflix a streaming service like Amazon Prime Video?

If you've had a Licence, have a Licence or have submitted "No Licence Needed", then you will have confirmed your address (and likely your name) with TV Licensing.   That's how it works - Licences are issued for properties.

It doesn't.   Neither gaming or Netflix requires a TV Licence.

    No.

Amazon PV includes live content like sport, which is a grey area for the TV Licence.

Netflix doesn't have any live content and you never need a TV Licence to watch it.

    Thank you.

    It's quite confusing.

In the past, the licence was required just if you had a TV.  That was simpler.

From what I can see, the legislation has always talked about "installation and use" of equipment for TV broadcast reception.

What has changed is that "installing and using" equipment used to automatically mean broadcast reception.   But it no longer does.    Blackbelt Barrister got into a bit of a muddle with this, which probably means there's no hope for the rest of us.

I have a BBC ID but the address I put in is one that I lived at over 20 years ago, I don't know if the person who lives there has a TV licence or not! The only thing I have logged into is the sounds app in the last 24 months. Most of the time I use a VPN so iPlayer and sounds aren't available through BBC.com version.

Someone please tell me what money is

I'll just add my input. I use iplayer at work where they the tv license is covered, but as it's tied into my "no license" account, it triggered a alert. I spoke to customer support on twitter, and the seemed cool with the explanation, and told me to resubmit my no license declaration details.

I guess a work around would be to use a separate email for iplayer. It's a bit alarming that the BBC and tv licence and comfortably sharing customer data, but I'm sure there so some kind of legal loop hole allowing it.
