You really have this completely messed up I am afraid and you are quite mistaken. You are not in control by paying them and think you are being clever .
    You are not

Sorry doesn't sit well with me, if this works you win, the scummy PPC wins but a totally innocent company trying to comply with its contract gets stuffed!

Not sure you've read my original explanation that I'm making money out of doing this. Nor will the PPC win.

I agree. But In my defence, I didn't set out to make money out of the Post Office, and I don't know why those recorded delivery letters were not delivered. How do you know they are innocent? I think they probably are, but I've got no evidence of that either way. I had the right to claim compensation, so I did.

If you pay up and then try and sue them to get it back then most likely you will lose.
The rest of it is irrelevant.
Yes the PPC will have a better chance of winning in court if you pay up.
Take it from someone who knows what they are actually doing/talking about.

We have read all of it but there's no reason at all to pay £60 of your profits to the parking firm.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Just to be clear for anyone reading this thread and getting the impression I'm advocating paying the fine then suing for it back. I am not. If I lose, I merely make a bit less money than I would have. If I win, then I max out.

Yes, I accept there are legitimate criticisms about my behaviour in encouraging the scammers and exploiting the Royal Mail. But if you want to solve the problem of private parking companies scamming the public, we need politicians. A few brave stalwarts refusing to pay is not going make a difference.

Likewise, none of your arguments (which appear to me to be just variations on "do not pay"), have shown me a reason not to. We shall have to agree to disagree, I'm afraid.

Correct. You are preaching to the converted.

    We agree on that 100%.

Which is why I got myself accepted onto the Government Steering Group in 2020 to shape the new statutory regime and Code of Practice coming in for 2024, which will protect all motorists from this rogue industry.

The law is changing and I helped steer it as the only consumer individual in the group.

I've never missed a meeting even when working full time during lockdown.  It's been rewarding but unpaid work.

Without going into the details of what was discussed, I have met with Ministers and Civil Servants as well as BSI professionals who started the process, and it's fair to say that PPC World got away with diddly squat.

The regulars here have also contributed to two Public Consultations over the years this new law & Code has been in progress and we are all submitting evidence to the DLUHC for the current 'Call For Evidence' to get the new Code over the line, at last, for 2024:
    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6463361/dluhc-private-parking-code-government-launches-call-for-evidence-discussion-thread/p1

It's taken 5 years of work by motoring and consumer groups, and by the stalwarts here.  We do a lot more than just tell people not to pay and it would be great to see you join us in the Call For Evidence and the planned 3rd Public Consultation, as you clearly realise the industry is rotten and want to take a stand.

Changing the law is the stand to take.

When you hear in 2024 that the level of parking charges has changed to a fairer model with lower £ rates and a proper appeals service, and the worst excesses of the rogue industry have been curtailed by the DLUHC, you'll know how that was achieved by the members of this forum - including you as well, if you join us and get stuck in with the current Call for Evidence (closes in 5 weeks' time) and the final Consultation.

I'd be happy to join you in the Call for Evidence. Will digest those links.

The reason you don't pay and then try and sue it back is you will have to pay a hearing fee and an issue fee. The chances are you will lose
To me it sounds as If your trying to be clever which isn't clever. I doubt you have ever dealt with the county court before.

This is the last time I'll reply the comments on this point.

I am not advocating anyone other than me should pay the fine then sue for it back. Of course it's an inadvisable thing to do under normal circumstances. Nowhere have I denied that.

If you are going to comment, please do me the courtesy of reading the thread to understand what I'm doing.
