The base unit will have two connections. One goes to the phone line and the other to the power ie 13amp socket. Is there any indication of power on the base unit eg a light when you have the phone in place?
Lack of power to the base unit looks like the issue.Things that are differerent: draw & drawer, brought & bought, loose & lose, dose & does, payed & paid1 -
Borrow a normal corded handset and test with that, your Panasonic set may have failed.1

This would explain why your Panasonic phone is now dead, 12V into a device expecting only 5V is never good and also why you have been unable to connect the TV to the new Now Hub over WiFi as only 5V into the Now hub expecting 12V will not work.
The irony of this situation is that if you had left everything exactly as it was set up for Sky, the switch from Sky to Now would have been seamless.
Yes I know that Now supply you with a new Hub and give instructions how to connect it up but the Sky Hubs are much better in every respect in comparison to the cost reduced inferior Now Hubs.
Many Sky broadband customers who switched to Now to save money have never unpacked the Now supplied equipment and many more who have found the Now Hub to be rubbish in comparison, have sourced second hand Sky Hubs to use with Now.
Two different passwords are required to use the Now App on your TV, first the TV must establish a connection over WiFi to the Hub and then second your Now account password needs to be entered into the Now App to use the Now TV service.
