V11 Road Tax reminder not arrived

Isn't it a shame they got rid of that nice little reminder disc attached to the bottom left of the windscreen?

I've been driving for 40 years and have twice forgotten to renew my road fund/tax or whatever it's called today.  Once was about 15 years ago and the other was last August.

I also don't check my oils, fluids, tyre pressures and lights each week as my car does this for me.  (I do check my tyre tread depth every other day or so when I walk to the car)
  
Does this mean I should sell the car and take the bus in future?

You need the V11 to get the code to renew online. I haven't received mine and my tax runs out next week

No you don't, you can do it with the V5 "logbook".

We didn't have one for MOT or for insurance and managed.
