Hi all,

I don't know if this has been posted and I don't want to get the poor people at DVLA bombarded with loads of calls but apparently there has been an issue with Royal Mail not delivering the V11 vehicle tax reminders out. Myself and someone else I know didn't get one so check your tax expiry as I really rely on that letter so won't from now on.
You can use your V5 instead or purchase slip to renew online if you don't get the letter...

I luckily realised I hadn't had the usual letter last week which is just as well given my tax ran out yesterday.

As an aside, having renewed using my logbook somewhere in the process they ask what prompted you to renew and one of them is 'email reminder' - having paid online for years I've yet to find anywhere where I can sign up to be reminded via email?

Same here.  Assumed it was just us. 😲

Luckily I had it diaried and noted on my spreadsheet that it was due.   So did it last week.

The reminder still hasn't arrived ☹️
How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.56% of current retirement "pot" (as at end January 2025)

Same here. Thought mine had just been lost in the post. Luckily I always keep a note of expiry date for this and renewed using the V5!
  • I had 2 identical copies of my V11 in the same post. Maybe the problem is with the DVLA rather than Royal Mail

I did think it might have been just me until someone else I knew had the same issue last month. Apparently they've sent them out again so will probably get a reminder after it's expired

I pay my vehicle tax by direct debit.

The DVLA send me an email a few weeks before the annual payment is due informing me of the amount and the date that it will be debited. That date is usually the first business day of the month so it was Monday April 3rd this year.
A man walked into a car showroom.
He said to the salesman, “My wife would like to talk to you about the Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
Salesman said, “We haven't got a Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
The man replied, “You have now mate".

Not had a road tax reminder for years - pay by Direct Debit is so much easier and no chance of forgetting. The DD is cancelled as soon as you notify sale of car, so no downside that I can see. Pay monthly or annually.

I think if you register with honestjohn.co.uk you can get email reminders for road tax.

  • Has anyone received their V11 yet for their road tax expiring end July? I’ve still not received anything. Renewed slightly late, but thankfully backdated to beginning of August.
