Moved from o2 to Tesco Mobile - need advice

It is unusual that you are not able to send texts, as normally texts being sent from the old number is the main issue people have with split ports.
When you make calls what number does it give to the recipient? Can you receive calls on the number tesco issued to you?
At least it sounds as though your number hasn't been lost as it is being used to identify outgoing calls.2 -
I've not heard of anyone being able to make outbound calls using the transferred number but not being able to receive them before.. i've seen it the other way round which was fixed by editing some of the phone settings. As @savergrant said this is probably a good thing as the number is still active. Keeping my fingers crossed they manage to fix it.0
