Better check in now as I'll have forgotten it all by morning. Still sleep deprived (some sleep but not enough) and the sore throat and cough are back. Had a parcel coming, so asked DS3 if he would be on parcel watch and to tell me when he was coming back upstairs. Shortly afterwards I went down to get supplies for breakfast and he followed me into the kitchen (he was rapping his knuckles on the fridge freezer so he wouldn't make me jump, but he still did). Told me he was going to bed.
Which left me on parcel watch, no laptop, no book, no pen, not had my shower or my pills (he did at least throw those down to me) huddled on the sofa, feeling not at all well. I went back to the kitchen, found a clean cloth to wash myself with and took a dress from the clean laundry pile. Mostly rested on the couch but did little jobs, as and when I could - took the dress I'd taken off to the machine, took 2 small bags to the bins and pulled up weeds from 2 tubs on my way back. Brought the laptop down when I needed to go upstairs to the bathroom. Bit of a panic because it said my parcel should be delivered at 9.32 am and it wasn't. It came in the afternoon and then I went back to my bed. Dozed rather than slept but it brought my temperature down and I felt slightly less dire.
Got myself back downstairs again by 6 pm. The side of my glasses has fallen off - they're doing a reasonable job of staying on my face but I'll have to see if the optician can fix them in the morning (it would happen after they'd closed for the day). they don't always open on Saturday but I know they're busy so I will try. Again various small tasks were accomplished -about 15 items are pegged out on the line (3 at a time and then a little sit down) and some items have been brought in that have been out there for weeks - I haven't been able to walk across that part of the yard but yesterday's clear up helped. i brought both bins back from collection and started filling them again.
Grateful for getting things done with determined plodding, having the chance to rest properly, frozen lemon meringue pie (very bad for me but lovely for my sore throat)8 -
Get well soon @grandmanerd. Happy new shower @beanielou, & new hair @Toni'sfriend. Good you had a surprise visitor. Good luck with the job hunting @DrCarrie house hunting & your date.
I've had a lovely day 😃 started off with a blood test. I'd never met the nurse before, I'd mentioned I worked in a school, & on learning that I do 1:1 support, she said I'd be good at that cos I have a very warm personality & would be great with the kids. Wasn't that nice?!
Dropped a repaired sewing job at my friend's, then went to another's to pin her into a playsuit. Played with her tiny puppy too. Quickly nipped to mum's to drop something off, then collected a friend to go out for lunch. I'd never been there before, but it was lovely. In a renovated old church, you walk through the jewellery cases (arranged like pews) to the cafe area. We looked upstairs afterwards at different craft things for sale, & gained inspiration for future craft work. I treated her to her meal, as she paid for mine last time. Went for a soggy walk through fields of long grass to old war buildings, then walked back to the car. Sat in her living room for an hour & did some if my rug & she crocheted more of her unicorn. She liked the card I'd made her, just because. It said that our friendship was like a patchwork quilt, each memory we've shared good & bad over the years, have been stitched together & made a lovely comforting blanket.(not the exact words, but as close as my tired brain could remember!)
Nipped in L1dl on my way home, a man let me go before him at the checkout 😊 spoke to my brother on the phone after tea, more exasperation over my dad's antics & gullibility. He's still thinking it's all legit, but none of his 3 children agree! Washed the dishes, then watched an episode of a programme & did more rug.
Grateful for compliments, RAK in L1dl, exploring new places & time spent with friendsUse it up, wear it out
Make do or do without!
If you see someone without a smile, give them one of yours 😃

I had an interview today, it was good, its probably not the right job, but it might be the right organisation.Sometimes the right organisation can be the path to what you truly desire. I discovered that when I waved goodbye to the lovely Liver Buildings and the life of a tax officer responsable for judging the tax returns of a certain government with a London code. They had very talented accountants etc It would have made a good comedy if it wasn;t daylight robbery..My recently widowed mum was very glad I had a job for life as she saw it and security . Meanwhile I would sit watching Gerry Marsdens beloved ferries crossing back and forth across the River reminding of the summer trips with my dad across the river to New Brighton and other resorts.pollyxI don't recall there beng some sort of ban on naming shops etc. there was some discussion among members mainly on the discussion thread which seemed to come to an end around the begining of the pandemic as it needed too much moderation.-I'm also a non believer when it comes to Santa shooting elves made that clear to GMN years ago.Same with the new version of Halloween it all seems very AmericanHope everyone sleeps well. Yesterday was humid and muggy. Was hopng for an early night tonight but started watching A thing on iplayer about Linda Ronstadt. I knew she developed Parkinsons a few years ago but that beautiul voice that could sing anything is no more..pollyxIt is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.

So so cross. Just had yet another letter from the Council about mum's Council Tax rebate. I have been in the Life Centre 6 times now, trying to sort this out. The latest letter restates that the signatures (mine and brother's) are very similar - they're not remotely similar. Furthermore last time I went in (twice in one day) they took a copy of a document issued after our other brother died which has mum's mine and my brother's signatures, all witnessed by a solicitor. Will complain. They want him to write a letter confirming that it's okay to pay the money into my bank account for me to distribute.
Apparently they've sent him a letter asking him to do this (I told them he can't open his e-mail, one of my nieces has to do it for him) but he's not replied. We'll both be at a funeral on Monday so we could sort it then (or at least tell him and my niece what needs to be done). I'd rather contact my niece sooner so that it can be moved on before Monday (if she draws up the letter for him to sign) but I'm not sure if it's fair to bother her, as it's her granddad we'll be burying on Monday.
Okay rant over. Will spend a few minutes calming down and then go on with my day.
Grateful for more sleep, that we aren't desperately in need of this money, re-watching an old series for the second time, not being ill in spite of eating several things yesterday that are on the 'only eat occasionally' list (soup diet today, soup and oranges)

Another spend day for me. Went to the optician's. The assistant really tried to find a replacement arm for my glasses - she had a 9" square box and tried dozens of them but none fitted. So I had to buy a replacement frame. She was worried that it would be too expensive and wanted me to wait until after my appointment so I could use my voucher. It was only £39 (okay £39 unexpected spend but not a problem). Luckily there was a pair the right size on the display board so she took the lenses out of my old ones and went off to put them in the new frame. I was reading the notices and I don't think I get the voucher any more - I qualify for the free eye test but not the voucher.
I wanted to buy more pegs to continue pegging out washing (every other one I picked up yesterday broke and some of the wooden ones have obviously spent years lurking in the shrubbery) so carried on to the cs that sells pegs. I spent quite a lot in there but most things were the third time I've been in to look at them. Some useful - bought 2 x 2 pairs of the basic arch supports for £3 each pack (about £9 - £15 online), some to be put away for December (plant theatre pack of chillies and sweet peppers - 6 different types + 6 mini plant pots and 6 pot sized coir blocks for £3), a water slide toy (tatty box but untouched inside), 3 tops for £5 each (2 m'n's, one turquoise and lacy but with lots of stretch). So long since I've seen anything in my size in a cs, let alone good quality and condition.
Waited for the rain to slow (my fault for having washing out) then crossed the road to shelter under the 'parapet'. Made a move when people started refolding their umbrellas and went to a different cs to the ones already visited. Only bought 3 jigsaws (2 to go away for me for December or possibly retirement). there was something else I'd seen but forgot to go back and pick it up (a large reel of green cord, not quite ric rac but thicker than cord or string). I had a quick look around will co (used their indoor bench before and after the look round. Quite a lot of empty shelves, I remember commenting when I was last in there about low levels of stock on some shelves. I particularly wanted to look through the spring bulbs but the ones outside were all they had (couldn't face going round a third time).
Worked my way back to home, sat down to eat. Have pegged more washing out but not all of it. Reloaded the machine and set it off and then came upstairs. I've done at least 2 bin runs today (brought cans and bottles down from my room and then gave the emptied bag to DS3 and told him to do the front room ones). Lots more to do but can only do what I can and keep up the determined plodding.
Only found out in the last few days that we (Leigh) are in the Rugby League Cup final today, playing Hull Kingston Rovers at Wembley. There are posters in shop windows. I didn't know that we had been 'rebranded' as Leigh Leopards (less fun than meeting a man wandering round b'n'q in his cardboard 'Centurion' skirt or that we are now owned by Billy Beaumont's son.
Grateful for bargains (I think the avid online window shopping is a displacement activity to stop me thinking about food I 'can't have'), DS2 and darling daughter outlaw love vinted but I found it confusing when I looked at it before but have been doing more specific searches and finding treasures (not bought anything yet), grateful that the sun is coming out again so all my washing may dry again.6 -
NSD No 8 (I think. Lost track a wee bit).
My nephew and his wife offered to take us for lunch this weekend but I am so tired I declined. I hate saying no when people are trying to be so kind. I hope he doesn't think I'm being ungrateful.
It's been a quiet day today. Himself was in bed fast asleep before 8.30 last night. I read a bit but fell asleep not long afterwards. We are so looking forward to this relaxing holiday. Hope it might help us destress a bit and recharge our batteries.
So off to make some dauphinoise potatoes to have for tea with some fish and long stem broccoli.
Have a lovely evening. xxx
Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.10
