I was really tired last night but could not get to sleep. Foot was painful to walk on last night and I'm very creaky this morning but persuaded myself that I'd feel much better if I could get some large broken planters in the free skips and I could try to sleep again after that. It's taken a few hours as they were on the far side of the yard and lots of things had to move out of teh way. Filled 2 bin bags with debris from the garden - mostly plastic, some rubbish, cardboard which was put down when it was very wet and is now far too dirty to go in the paper bin. There is more but I'd set 2 bin bags as the target and it's a lot easier to walk up and down now (still mobility challenged but at least it's not an obstacle course with occasional dodgy surfaces). I've mentioned the skips to DS3 and Beloved but I'm not doing it for them. Added a large kitchen bin to the skip hoard - usually I put holes in the bottom, paint them and plant them up but I'm not short of containers and this one has rust marks as I used it to keep the poles from the polytunnel together.
I've eaten (remembered I still had a sandwich I bought yesterday) and am now back on the bed, resting. I want to go back outside and carry on but will wait an hour or so until there's more shade in the garden (not sure sleep is going to happen so will carry on and then have an early night. I've had some compliments from one of the people I sent flowers to.
Grateful for resting, getting more bulky things to the free skips, sleep (when it comes).7 -
Well done ICC and Abundant. Brave decisions but I'm sure the right ones. Someone once said to me "If you're not sure what you want to do don't do something that you know you don't want to do". He never said a truer word. I just wish I had listened more at the time Hope it all works out for you both.
So today, in my ongoing effort, to use things up I've made chicken and sweetcorn soup for dinner and chilli for tomorrow. Many bits and pieces removed from the freezer. I'm happy that I'm starting to cook properly again.
Also I got a lovely surprise. The lady at the end of our block (whom I don't really know very well apart from to say "hello" to in passing) works in TESCO, She came to the door this morning and gave me two trays of plants. Apparently if they can't sell them the staff can take them for free. She said that she always admires my little "garden" when she passes and thought of me when she saw them. I was really touched. Firstly because of her kind act but also because my little "garden" is giving pleasure to other people.
Not an NSD as I bought some cat food for my new feline friend.
Very muggy here. Not sunny but no air and quite uncomfortable.
Football on TV tonight (Oh no! It's that time again) so just as well I've got a good book. Re-reading Morris West which I read years ago. They are still as good as they were then.
Hope you've all had a good day, xxxHave adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.9 -
The sun has shone here! All day long.Washing dried on the line, all food bought for the week after doing a cupboard/freezer inventory, then nipped into The Long Legged Wading Bird Store and got pots of olives for .... 7p! I love olives, I love 7p olives even more. Found very posh toffee yoghurt tubs, tofu, magnums, 30p oat milk, 17p fruit loaf, 30p packs of giant crumpets, I had an absolute ball in that shop! Should not need to shop next week at all.I need a cheap week! So......ate a frog, and checked the interest rates on my accounts, and opened an easy access savings account at 3.4% with a bank I already have an account with, so filled that up, I am not going to have any savings in any account paying me less than 3%. and I am taking my interest monthly. Better rates for locked in money, but this is needed for fixing the house, so can't lock it away. So much to keep tabs on! It is easy to forget to keep checking.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Evening turtles
Had an early night yesterday after pilates and slept like a log, very much needed!
Dropped my car off for a minor repair and then walked to the gp first thing for an appointment, walked home and got on with work.
Walked back to get the car at lunchtime and took it through the car wash - with my chronic back pain that is one luxury I'll allow myself as washing it myself isn't worth the pain afterwards!
Went for a swim with a friend after work, had a nice catch up as haven't seen each other for a while. OH has gone to a festival until Monday so now I have the house to myself so going to indulge my introverted side and enjoy being a hermit!
Shopping is being delivered shortly then its a film and bed for me haha.10 -
Felt better after a few hours sleep but still in sleep deficit and was dopey for a while. More alert now, hoping I can get outside but won't beat myself up if I don't. Fridge raid tea - pasta salad with ood beetroot (July 20th), ys chilli chicken (should do 2 more meals) and ys melon medley (not a huge melon fan but like this mixture to add more variety to my diet - wouldn't pay full price though).
Oh dear, I've just looked at the time, not sure it's worth the effort needed to go downstairs as I'll not get much done before dark. This morning's activities were quite strenuous (several 50 l pots were moved, 3 of them full and various other bits moved to accommodate getting them where they needed to be). The total for decluttering large items for the week (so far) is 20 to the skips on Monday, half a dozen to recycling +2 bin bags today, DS2 took 4 large items and 8 items to the skips today (the men came to meet me and take them off me). One huge box can be cut up and recycled and there are possibly 4 smaller ones (5 l paint can size).
Grateful for my phone charging without making a fuss (gadgets are so demanding, microwave beeping, fridge alarm saying 'you've left me open too long and I don't like it, things demanding to be recharged), ys food, fridge raiding (let it go too long before eating again), getting things to the skip that took up lots of room (more could have gone but would have meant a lot of work for little return), getting things done even though it was difficult.9 -
Good evening...
I'm getting nostalgic with all this talk of term starting. I used to always look forward to a new term as a kid... fresh start... brand new exercise books (I must have been slightly OCD even back then!)... am sure the excitement wore of pretty quick lol. What I'd give to go back to those relatively care free days again - knowing what I know now. Is time travel a thing yet? Haha.
Realised today that I am pretty damn good at what I do and this somehow has given me some confidence to push on... and I am sure one day my team will look back and think - actually - he did a great job. And if they don't - well <insert rude hand signal> lol.
Confession: I bought a sandwich from the canteen!!! Not a NSD as such either. Bad Abundant.
Today I am grateful for:
1) Positive reinforcement from some people I work with
2) lunch break out in the sunshine with some nice colleagues
3) A malibu and coke I just found lurking in the fridge lol

Today I am grateful for spending time with step dd2 and her family over from Oz, for how good the house feels after all the tidying and cleaning we did in preparation for the visit (more still to be done as next week we'll have a 3 yo and and 18 month old visiting -yikes), for toasted bagel with smoked salmon and scrambled egg, for getting to the gym first thing, for shopping in a very quiet liddle.

@beanielou & @thriftylass, we usually go back next week, but have an extra week this year 😊
Our local agricultural show today. DH didn't want to go, so I arranged to go with a friend. Unpicked 2 zips & cleaned the bathroom before I left. Was overcast when I set off walking, but the sun came out & was scorching hot! Needless to say I got a little bit pink... Had a lovely afternoon, & the Clydesdale horses were stunning. Nipped in the shop on the way home, my neighbour was in, so he gave me a lift home.
Had a 15 minutes nap before tea, washed up afterwards, then sewed a zip in. Had a long bath with my book. Now have to be taxi service to collect DS3 & possibly 1 later.
Grateful for seeing my friend with cancer & hearing it was only in one breast, not both as feared, a sunny day, fresh doughnuts & candyflossUse it up, wear it out
Make do or do without!
If you see someone without a smile, give them one of yours 😃
