Hi, I am new to this board. Just wanted to say that I am a little shocked at the 'high end' cosmetics some of you are suggesting. They're all made from the same ingredients! And don't fall for that old ' plants based, organic cream etc.' nonsense, as those ingredients are in such tiny quantities as to make no difference. It's all very clever marketing, that we are supposed to see right through as savvy shoppers, right??

Without boasting, my skin is very good. My skincare is Nivea or something from Superdrug range. My cosmetics are a mixture of tinted moisturiser in summer (any brand, or mix your own) and Tesco Barbara Daly foundation. My lipsticks are whatever colour I fancy, not based on brand, but the NYC lip glosses are the copy of MAC, but only £1.99.

If you have slight redness near a pimple, the best tip of all is to go to Poundland and get some eye brightenuing drops. A single drop on a red area clears it up in no time...and all for £1.00!!

Not strictly true, alot of the higher end cosmetics don't contain parabens, lanolin or mineral oil which cause lots of problems for many people with sensitive skin or eczema.

Whether someones skin is 'good' or not is largely down to genetics. Some are fortunate to inherit smooth blemish free skin like my OH, others have wrinkles at the age of 25. Excessive sunlight exposure aside, inheritence determines how your skin ages and what you are reactive to so not everyone can use nivea or atrixo like my MIL does.

    Benefit Dr Feelgood

Excellent skin primer. Makes a huge difference to the finish and application of foundation. Feels nice to wear too.

    What about tools....

I love my Shu umera eyelash curlers, they really are fab
    & Mr Tweezerman twezzers
& the god of the all, GHD's

Are Molton Brown brushes really worth the money. I have No.7 ones, they are nice. But Molton are incredible prices.

ohhhh yes, couldn't live with out my tweezerman tweezers.& as for my GHDs,well I'll admit it,I've got two pairs - one pair had to go for repair & I just couldn't live without them so I had to get another pair (pathetic know !) but at least I've got a spare pair now in case disaster should strike again !
  • i agree Tweezerman tweezers are amazing and the bright pink colour helps me stop losing them!
    other stuff:
L'Oreal Gentle eye make up remover is cheap and the only one not to irritate my eyes whilst still removing all my mascara!
Olay complete care moisturiser as it's factor 15 and also isn't greasy
    Simple facial toner-cheap and non-irritatiing
L'Oreal Telescopic mascara - not so cheap but the only one that makes my lashes longer and fuller (just tried Maybelline and i hate it, what a waste of money!)
not fussy about much else-what ever's cheapest when i need it!
  • I love my Benefit FYI - this fixes your eyemakeup and makes it last all day. The Benefit makeup counters offer free makeovers. It's a great way to find the best products for your skin.

I use that new L'oreal eye makeup remover (the blue one you shake).

Its finished now & I've gone back to my Johnsons pads & I really miss it, I didn't realise how great it was when I was using it.
