  • There are lots of nearby places to eat where I am staying, so it will be fine. With the mini fridge I will be able to make tea with fresh milk and have some croissants for breakfast in my room too. So all will be well!

I have also purchased a mini fridge for £30. This will enable me to keep milk and a couple of other small items fresh in my Premier Inn room. I dislike the UHT milk provided in most hotel rooms. Usually  I buy a pint of milk each day for tea and coffee in my room, but it always goes yuk overnight ! I have tested the mini fridge and it works really well!
And I thought I took everything bar the kitchen sink - but no fridge!

I remember looking at these in my student days, but they seemed to say they couldn't be run 24/7. They were designed for very short term use, perhaps on a camping trip. Presumably electricals have moved on since then.

I have opted not to pay for the breakfasts this time. They have recently risen to £10.99 a day and to be honest I don't think they are such good value for money anymore. I may treat myself to one of them if the fancy takes me lol!

Depending on the location of course, but when I was attending a wedding and staying in one, it was only a short walk to a Morrisons where they did a satisfactory breakfast for much less. With similar ambience. ;)
I've also used Asda café in the same situation, no doubt many alternative options available

I think the only time the paid breakfast is worthwhile is with children, where they go free, or should that really be the parents don't pay >:)
Yes, several of the PIs in which we have stayed have much better breakfast options within walking distance. But with children - especially children with good appetites! - they are very worthwhile.

Those mini fridges are really good. In desperation I bought one a few years ago because I couldn't get my integrated fridge/freezer replaced for 10 days or so and in the summer too.

But I had to laugh at the thought of taking one in with the luggage......travel hairdryer, travel iron,... travel fridge! Great idea 'though- well done for thinking 'outside the (ice) box.'

Well, I've come away with a large cool bag, with an insulated bag inside that, and a couple of cool blocks inside that, just to stop the fresh fruit I didn't want to leave at home cooking in the car on the journey!

Fruit is now out because the room is cool. Will be interesting to see if the cool blocks stay cold for 3 days.
