That must be a worry for you, bad memory.  A very difficult situation.

I worry about my sister, she's married to a hopeless spendthrift. Before they met she always tended to be somewhat chaotic but she did at least seem to manage her finances ok. However, since she met her husband money slips through their fingers and they just lurch from one financial crisis to another. I can't see my sister being able to retire any time soon, she will work till she drops.

I have real concerns about her physical health. But, as you say it is what it is.

My ironing board doubles as a rest for my jigsaw board as it is much better for my back.  My iron hasn't left the cupboard since March 2020 the week before lockdown.
Ah....brings back memories.  SWMBO used the ironing board as a stand up desk during lockdown.

It doesn't get much use now we no longer don office attire.  Only comes out occasionally when SWMBO does a favour for the boy whose shirts she irons for the occasions when he has to go in to the office.

Just over a week ago I applied for my state pension online.

Payment is due from the middle of July. Very simple and painless procedure. I received the figures last Thursday. A very quick turnaround! The amounts are as expected at the moment.

At the moment I have 46 full years of NI payments that gives a few pounds less than the ‘new’ state pension. Once I am able to pay any outstanding NI contributions for 2023/2024(Year 47) the pension will increase to within a few pence of the maximum. I am very happy about this considering I was contracted out for so many years bring in a public sector pension scheme.

I may have to wait a while to find out the amount owed as I worked for 3 months in the 2023/2024 and it can take a while for the amount owing to be calculated. Sometimes the update is not available until October or November.

I have been told that when I make this voluntary final payment HMRC send a digital update to the DWP who will then adjust my entitlement. I was hoping to get it sorted before July but the timings of my due date make it unlikely. No worries it is what it is.

I hope everyone remembered to put their clocks and watches forward!

    Happy Easter!

You may be able to buy some missing years. Check on your government gateway account.

I just read some of your other posts. I think in your case you could  pay up to the year 2021/2022 if your pension was payable after April 2022 or the year 2020/2021 if pension was due before April 2022. Did you pay those years?
