Renewal quote for my insurance quote is just over 50% higher than last year ! However, others are not offering much less. I have budgeted for an increase so should be ok. I do need to call them to let them know I am retired. Hopefully, that will not further increase the premium. To be honest I can’t be doing with faffing around looking for another provider at the moment. I know it’s not very MSE but I will go with the renewal. Not much planned for today apart from another trip to the tip. I couldn’t unload my garden waste yesterday as there was already a long queue of people waiting for the garden waste skip to be replaced. The separate garden waste area was closed owing to a staff shortage. Hopefully, it will be ok today.
I also need to collect some medication for my elderly relative.
I am so pleased January is nearly over, and the evenings are just beginning to get a little lighter.4 -
I too will be glad to see the back of January. My car insurance increased by £110 in December on renewal for no reason. I already told them I was retired when I changed my address last Feb & I got a refund but that could have been due to change of area. I just renewed with my provider as I couldn’t get a cheaper quote. However when my home insurance renewal came through this month I got an online quote from my current provider as a “new”customer and saved £50. I wish I had tried the same with my car insurance. It might be worth you giving it a try with your current car insurer.0% credit card £1360 & 0% Car Loan £7500 ~ paid in full JAN 2020 = NOW DEBT FREE 🤗

Some positive news on my car insurance renewal. I telephoned this morning to inform the company I was now fully retired. The renewal quote was reduced by £60 which is a good result. I have accepted the quote and it will go out by auto renewal in early February.2

I did mention that I no longer have to do the daily commute. However, for me it was only ever 6 miles each way in a rural area lol. It is probably more to do with the fact that I only do a few thousand miles a year and I did mention that the initial increase in the premium seems very high at over 60%. Perhaps they wanted to keep me as a customer or I may be flattering myself lol. Whatever the reason the call saved me just over £60 so I am not really bothered with the reasoning.2
