Another 20 pages of mainly negative posts... the vast majority of the positive ones saying its a bit better than a few days ago... but is it better than the older forum layout ? NO! (unless your a tablet user, feedback for this has been very positive)
How about asking people when they come to the forums with a question, giving people the ability to pick either the older layout or the newer layout with a live counter as to how many are using which layout? Lets see what people really prefer.
You will never do it, because you already made the decision, our views mean nothing. You are pushing this eyesore of a new layout onto us whatever we say. Shameful.
As they say, you can pour glitter on a turd, but its still a turd.
Perfect example is this that appears when you go onto a menu... blocks the whole top section, with a picture of a doctor in scrubs and patient in a gown in a wheelchair... what's that all about? (sorry if you had not seen this before and that's all you see now)

The changes cancelled all my notification settings.
I reset the notifications to get emails for bookmarked threads but I'm not getting any emails from you at all now. I'm waiting for news of an imminent government consultation on parking charges which I might miss.
Fix this, please!1 -
Good Morning
I apologise in advance as I have not read through all 67 pages of comments. I just want to know if or when we are going to get email notifications on bookmarked threads back?0 -
I feel completely muddled on here now. I cannot find anything2

My bookmarked threads count has now reduced by 3, no idea why, but this is still 5 more than the actual count. In the grand scheme of things this is totally irrelevant but weird nonetheless. If the font hadn't have been fairly large I doubt I would ever have noticed.

I've also wondered what the significance of this graphic is. I can understand that they want to appear to be inclusive, but it looks like we've landed on a Medical Forum. How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)4 -
I don't understand the point of the "quick links" section. It doesn't feel very much quicker than the other ways you can get the content. And I don't like it when I can't freely move my mouse around a page without things expanding and blocking off my view. It's very distracting.
I think if you have to add a feature to your site that promises people quick access to features, you should have made those features more accessible in the first place. It's like someone has got hold of a "build your own website" tool and just added all the suggested functions like a kid in a sweetshop. When you give people more than one way to get to a part of the site, they get confused if they are in a different place just because they went there a different way
I hadn't even paid much attention to the two people graphic, but now I do think it looks odd. What is the guy doing? Looks like he is advancing on the woman in the wheelchair, and they are having a conversation, but it looks vaguely sinister like "can I push you?" "No!"1 -
Ok, so have after a few days with the new layout, have two non trivial, non 'will get used to after time' gripes.
first..imagine you picked up your favourite newspaper, and they had replaced columns of text, with full page lines of text? would it be easier to read? Of course not. Thats why text columns have been used for HUNDRED s of years. They are easy to read, and scan. Scanning edge to edge text is a literal PAIN in the neck!
second..far too much blank space, white, off white, sky blue pink..its just boring and useless.
solution..just cramp the text to the right hand half of the screen, and fill the left with navigate links or even rolling news. so fixes both problems and keeps the cleaner, more up to date look.1 -
Regarding the updated items link (on pg. 54); it makes the comment:
Desktop and mobile - The new design is adaptive, so it expands automatically for desktop users and condenses/stacks for mobile. This resolves a lot of display issues that were on the previous version which, with the vast majority of our users viewing the Forum on a phone/tablet, means a less buggy experience. Given that our platform provider was ending support for the previous Forum design, moving to the new version was the only way those issues were going to be fixed.
When it comes to the blank space on either side of the screen on desktop, it’s worth noting that the space dedicated to post content actually takes up more page width than it did in the previous version.
I don't think the "adaptive" functionality is working very well...

I'm not sure if this one has been mentioned, but I see it on a number of sites: since this is a UK-based site, would it be possible to set the dictionary to English?
