I have complained about this but apparently it is either just me or I am not using the forum properly. I have just got used to using the refresh icon every time I exit a thread.Okell said:Is it just me (or my browser) or are the board screens where different threads are listed not updating properly?
It used to be the case that I'd go to a particular board and new threads or any threads I was following and which had had new posts would be highlighted in bold.
I'd then read those and when I returned to the main screen the threads I'd just read would no longer be in bold.
But now they remain in bold - or sometimes they don't!
Sometimes even if I've just added a post myself to a thread it doesn't seem to be reflected on the main screen.
It's very annoying if I read a thread I've been following because it's had new comments posted on it, but after I come out of the thread it's still showing as having new comments even though I've just read them all.
I use that bold type feature to identify new posts on threads I've been following.3

Clicking the navigation link to the thread listing (rather than clicking the browser Back button) should do the same refresh. But in some circumstances it doesn't.Jenni x0

There's definitely something not quite right with how the screen works - If I click 'latest threads' - then have a browse down the list - don't see anything of interest, then come back an hour or so later, and click 'latest threads' again - nothing happens. I have to either manually refresh the screen, or click something else and then click back to 'latest threads'.

But that takes you back to the top of the listing, so if you were on page 2 or 3, you would then have to go searching!Jenni_D said:Clicking the navigation link to the thread listing (rather than clicking the browser Back button) should do the same refresh. But in some circumstances it doesn't.0

Sorry but I don't understand ... the point being made was about being on the thread listings page (not buried within a multi-page thread) and that page not updating to highlight only unread threads?Le_Kirk said:

If you're on a board and you're on the second or third page of threads, pressing the link to go to that forum makes you lose your place because it sends you back to page 1 of the list of threads.Jenni_D said:

(I rarely go browsing beyond the first page of threads, so this hadn't occurred to me. That said ... there's a row of page number across the top, with the current page highlighted, so you could press Back and then click on the highlighted page number again). Jenni x0 Jenni x0

Yes, one could but why should I (or anyone) have to do that when the forum software writers could simply correct the program so that when it sees back button pressed it goes to the previous page and refreshes as it used to!Jenni_D said:

Quite. It's like the site has been written by designers who learned their jobs "by numbers" and don't actually understand what they are doing.Le_Kirk said:

(I hasten to add I wouldn't underatnd what I was doing either, but I'm not being paid to do it...)0
