At the time of sale £1250 was agreed and on the same selling sites kc reg pups were in the price range of 2-3kmr_stripey said:born_again said:tightauldgit said:
I'm not an expert on puppy breeding or KC but in plain language it doesn't really imply anything of the sort. If the buyer wanted to know if the puppies were registered they should have asked.Andy_L said:
Depends on how much the pups were sold for, compared to KC registered ones.
Although I agree with previous poster, why mention KC parents & not register the pups. If that was the intention, then it would have been better to make that clear.
In March (after having the puppy for 4 months) I was asked for my bank details to make the last payment of £25 so I sent over my details (same as used for previous payments) however however a final payment of £25 was never made.
It sounds like they were sold very cheaply, compared to a pedigree (KC registered) pup - if we're talking four months and monthly payments of £25
Did OP chip the pups?
i paid for microchipping and first two vaccinations for the puppy as well as sending them with a blanket and toys to the new owners
this was all agreed end of October 22 where a deposit was taken, I allowed them to visit weekly until the pup was of the age to leave mum and dad.The pup was taken home part paid in December 22 (so not to disappoint their children) and then I received another part payment end of jan 23 then still awaiting the final payment of £25
although again as I had not heard anything since March 23 about the final amount I just assumed they wouldn’t pay until I started getting asked about papers as they want to breed the puppy1 -
I think it is possible to register the puppy, even now. (it might cost more than the original registration though). They shouldn't be in a mad rush to get this done, since I don't think you should be breeding a dog this early on it's life (think 1 year is the youngest you can register)
But the new owners raise many red flags. Having dealt with selling a couple of litters in the past, I swiftly ignored anyone who haggled, complained about price etc. So their difficulty in scraping together a relatively small amount of money would be a concern.
I'd be tempted to state the dog was not KC registered and priced accordingly. If they want retrospective registration then the price would need to go up to reflect that

What did your contract of sale state with regards to KC registration? Our most recent puppy had it explicitly called out a) what the parents' KC registration details were and b) that the puppy would also be KC registered.1

We had no formal contract, nothing in writing from either side. I just placed an advert and they bought the puppy based on what the advert said0

where did you advertise? Assume it wasn't on the KC - as that might well imply the pup was KC registered?segggy800 said:We had no formal contract, nothing in writing from either side. I just placed an advert and they bought the puppy based on what the advert said

Its pretty much implied, I take it you didn't tell them the pups weren't KC registered.segggy800 said:The parents were advertised as kc/pedigree however my advert did not state the puppies were.
I only have copies of messages to other people showing I was not registering the puppies
The ad was misleading and can see their point.0 -
Not in any legal sense - there's absolutely no requirement for a private seller to disclose any details that they aren't asked about and they haven't made any false claims in their ad.bris said:

Based on what we know, and we haven't seen the ad - then it isn't misleading to say both the dam and the sire were KC registered - that is fact.bris said:

If purchasing a KC pup you would expect to receive the documents validating this at the time of collection, along with the 5 week free insurance from the Kennel Club. The time for the purchaser to ask about papers would have been then.
