@MickyLuv For the record, I didn't accuse you of refusing to cooperate.
I noted that Octopus had suggested a way forward so I merely flagged up that the problem wouldn't be resolved promptly IF you didn't play ball; you had said it was getting complicated and mixed up, and had taken a month !
I've never made any 'distinct attempt' to make you a bad guy.  Nor do I have a 'heavy bias in favour of the companies'; if you've ever read some of my other posts you'll see that I'm often quite critical of the big boys, not to mention dozy Ofgem whose lax approach to regulation has caused customers significant problems and expense.
To summarise, I'm just an ordinary Octopus customer who thinks they have a refreshingly different attitude together with a brilliantly clear billing system and app.  Your photos will enable the registers to be correctly identified and then billed at single rate, so I hope you'll be another fan before long.

If they are transposed then you will be better of with being charged night rate for your all your day usage. But you will likely just get re-billed when they sort it to single rate.

But if the property has been better on standard tariffs for many years the day rate should be the high rate not the low rate.

I've never gone any deeper into the functioning of electric meters than I've had to. Reading the numbers and sending them off has been my max involvement. And paying the bills of course.

I understand that the E7 meter was in place long before I moved in. It had been metering night storage heaters and a hot water storage system for many years. These were all gone before my arrival, replaced with panel heaters from Lidl.

My understanding is that this is why the "Night" reading has always been a much higher number.

The meter itself is probably a standard one. The lower number of the 2 readings is shown as number "1" , the higher number as number "2". I don't know for sure but it may be possible to deduce which is the day and which the night from these.

In all my time here the increase in these two numbers has been combined to produce the figure for a standard rate charge.
    Regards,

    Mike

Whichever reading increased by the smaller amount is probably the "night" reading.

    Thanks.
Interestingly (to me) is that though those photos of the meter I sent to Octopus were taken between 8am and 5pm
the night "2" reading had still increased by one last digit. So these things are obviously not as simple as I was hoping.

    Thanks for the photo.
Those meters cycle through displaying two register values, 1 and 2, plus a total value t. The first (smaller) digit on the screen shows the register number. This number flashes to indicate the active register at the time.
At 8am and at 5pm, which register number was flashing?
