I feel like I've worked my bottom off all year in a job I hate (really truly hate) and now that the end is in sight, the debts are almost gone and the I'm a month away from leaving this 'orrible job... I am SHATTERED!

Does anyone else feel like they need a month in bed at the moment?! I wish I was feeling all festive and joyous for Christmas, but I need a few good nights sleep first :o

Glad I'm not the only one! I've been so so tired over the last couple of weeks - work's been busy and trying to keep up with assorted festive nights out etc hasn't helped. Really struggled to get up and go to work the last few days. Today I'm supposed to be packing for going to my parents' for Christmas and instead I'm sitting in my pyjamas in a daze in front of the TV & laptop. I've got a week and a half off but only have two days of that to myself between doing various things! Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.....

Well - I've had a really good night's sleep and appear to have 're-charged my batteries'. My wages have been paid and this evening will be my last shift for a week. I am going to try my hardest to get into the Christmas Spirit. :xmassign:

I think that what it is is that 2008 has basically been a cr*p year for a lot of people. Not just on this site but generally. The credit boom party is starting to falter, and that has brought a lot of people up short, literally.

Then there are those of us who have goals who are working are gender specific bits off to get debt a bit quicker. LBM's are good but also hard work.

Even those of us who are well along on their debt free journey have had touch times this year. And that makes work more effort.

And I certainly feel that there have been some new faces on here with more desparate stories than other years. Maybe I am just better tuned in this year.

So roll on 2008, when all of our dreams will come true!

I want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?
  • Depends who else is in it! :p

You can have anyone in there who takes your fancy!! Any nominations?

Food for thought though, certainly. Out of the month I reckon I need in bed, I now estimate that only one of those days really needs to consist of some sleep :p

I'm so tired I just feel like sitting here and crying for no good reason. Totally exhausted. Worked 11 hours yesterday, and 9 today... flat out with christmas customers, very few of whom were showing festive spirit. Sick of being chewed out by customers who left the shopping till last minute and are now annoyed we're out of stock.

Have 1 day off - xmas day, and 10 here for dinner. Back to work boxing day, for the sales. Shoot me now.

Oh, that sounds rotten. I hope it starts getting a bit better in January and that you get chance to enjoy your xmas day - here, have a pint with me

  • I'm absolutely knackered. I'm on my last shift as a debt advisor and lines close at 8pm tonight. I've personally taken nearly 5000 calls about debt in the last year. My brain hurts.

Just wanted to say - I know everyone's working really hard at this time of year, but you really are doing sterling work at Christmas if you're a debt advisor. Can't be at all easy, but even though I've not used the services myself I really appreciate the work you do!

I can't wait to break up Xmas Eve. As a postie it has been absoute mayhem the last few weeks, 9-10hour shifts without a break.

If it's any consolation, I think you posties are all doing a bloody good job as well - I ordered all my xmas pressies online this year (saving money by buying them 2nd hand off ebay and amazon!) and EVERYTHING has arrived safely and on time, with a lovely beaming smile and a merry christmas from the chap who brought the last of my parcels this morning. Just wanted you to know someone out there appreciates the work :)

    Can relate to that.

CONGRATULATIONS ON NEARLY REACHING DEBT FREEDOM:beer:

I think that shows a great sense of responsibility to put yourself out like that and determinedly get shot of debt. Congrats also to those later in thread who have done the same. Pats on back all round time.

I've been in debt myself before now - to the tune of half my years net salary:eek: (little consolation that it wasnt down to me doing consumer spending - but an old wreck of a house needing work RIGHT NOW) - but worked it off with sideline work and moneysaving tips (basically picked up from Old Style Forum).

....and the personal plus side - freedom from debt means greater freedom to give employers the directions to the other side of the road shall we say!

Thanks :o It's been a bit of a slog but it's been well worth the effort! Now I have the freedom to look around for a job I actually *want* to do for once, it's quite exciting. After that, the next goal is moving somewhere where I don't have to share a bathroom with three grubby blokes ( never having housemates again!) so fingers crossed 2008 will be one to look forward to!

Thanks, it isn't as bad today, bit tired still. Well along with xmas prep to try and make that day easier.
