@Soontobeoap Yes your friend tale made me titter and you certainly are not inadequate.
We have just over £42 left till the 27th but I aim to push to the end of the month thus an extra 4 days. We do need fresh produce, tempted to have an afternoon out to find a farm shop and bulk buy a couple of items i.e spuds and onions or other seasonal veg at a good price. Ineed to pick some blackcurrants off the bush between the showers as the birds are wasting them. We will have apples and pears later in sufficient abundance.

@Soontobeoap your friend is horribly mistaken! 😂 I can't wait until one of her grandkids or neighbours sets her straight.
Just a couple quick updates. On Wednesday I stopped by Tesco after a doc appt to get a few items. Olive oil, cling film, 2 packs of shortcrust pastry, creme fraîche, bananas, and a YS 4-pack of yoghurt. £17.93 was spent.
Last night I purchased an Aldi TGTG surprise bag for the first time. It cost £3.30 and I'll collect it later this evening. Has anyone had a bag from Aldi? Hopefully there's fresh fruit and veg along with some meat or other items.
£231.71/£250.00 spent. £18.29 remaining
One roll of pastry went in the freezer and the other was used for a vegetable tart that used up a lot of loose ends. That's become our "end of the week/use up" tactic. Sauté or roast any loose veg. Spread some pesto or another sauce down as a base on the tart. Fry any bits of meat. When your toppings are ready, add them in layers to the tart along with any cheese that's elderly or just plain tasty. Sprinkle or mix in some herbs, drizzle some olive oil and roast/bake the tart for about 12 – 15 min on 180C fan depending on your oven. Our oven is really fast and hot so we've had to adjust our cooking times.
We're heading out to the high street now for a bit and I'll try to keep my hands in my pocket since we have less than £20 left and I do intend to buy a couple items at Aldi tonight. We'll likely go over but I'd like to minimize it as much as possible. Have a great Sunday everyone!4 -
We had a couple of Aldi TGTG bags last week and won't be bothering again! Boxes exactly the same - pack of 4 OOD burgers; pack of dough balls; 3 bunches of spring onions; pack of OOD salad leaves; pack of herbs. Not worth £3.30 IMO.

I think I *may* have missed a small top up shop that DH paid for (can’t find the receipt!) but have us down at £218.02/£250 with just over a week to go. We do have a decent amount in the freezer but people are getting slightly bored of bolognaise/shepherds pie on rotation out of the freezer 🤣
chicken casserole for tea tonight, and fajitas tomorrow as we have lots of chicken breast in the freezer. Will get some sausages out later in the week to have with jacket pots & beans, and of course our standard lazy Friday tea of eggs & beans on toast. Cheap and cheerful and everyone eats it!5 -

Am up to €615.68 with a week to go.
Haven't included the milkman yet, and didn't get to the cash and carry, so this month has gone totally pear shaped on me. Bah and humbug. Back on the horse next month, and trying to spend as little as possible until payday

@JingsMyBucket - hopefully your TGTG bag will be better than mine! I'm sure it's very store dependent.
I've had some really good bags from Morrisons. Never any meat but usually plenty of fruit and veg and recently not much bread which is good as don't eat much of it!

I’m not sure exactly but think I’m just under £650 which is crazy tbh 😢5

Its a no spend over the weekend here. Did a batch cook yesterday and a dozen cakes and iced used up the bits in the cupboard that did not fit into storage vessels. A bit more space now. Win,win.

Hello all! I've been on holiday in the lovely Isle of Wight so out of the loop a little. Came home and did a quick shop in Icel@nd for a few bits, spending around £20 so I'm on £114 / £250 which I'm pretty happy with so far.
I also ordered a TGTG bag yesterday from a local Her0n Foods, walked down there IN THE HEAVY RAIN to be told there isn't any food left and it needed to be cancelled. I'd already swiped the app to say I was in store and when I clicked off it said I'd collectedso I'm in the process of trying to get a refund on that *eye roll*
