More spends again here today, went into Sainsbury’s with a small list 😉 and came out £55 lighter! Jeeeeez. But we were down to just chicken left over so replenished meat and we needed a few more expensive things (a DW clean solution, rinse aid, Dairy free cream cheese….) so whilst I didn’t get much for my money, it’s been the first shop this month (of a lot!) where I’ve felt like that!Follow here for the daily life of an ADHD mum with 2 children and a new mortgage to pay

Something I spotted today and was very surprised. Chicken breast is now cheaper by the Kg than thigh fillets?! Since when! 😳Follow here for the daily life of an ADHD mum with 2 children and a new mortgage to pay

Oops that reminds me, I'm in here and not booked in yesterdays spends at Morrisons and Aldi.
I will be back in morrisons this morning as I had gone in with a basket yesterday and a list but actually needed a trolly as I need to pickup their own weet biscuits for us and son. They are reduced I noticed too.
I have an errand to do and as their car park is the main place in the next small town will again be in and out with no messing about spending

£35 spent in Sains today, more than I’d have liked but I had to go and pick up school uniform so shopped there instead of my usual Lidl.Hadn’t done a meal plan for next week so will need to shop for dinners on Monday but have enough in for the weekend, quiche tonight with chips and peas, and roast chicken tomorrow.£147.06/£2506

£42.00 spent at Aldi this morning. Only things I couldnt get were vanilla essence and dessicated coconut. Pleased with that as bought burgers, nice sausages lots of fruit and veg and lots of cake biscuit making stuff. Our numbers to feed this month are going from 2 people to up to 11 at, different times so lots of snacks needed to get the little ones from one meal to the next. And the adults!! Not sure if its the sea air or the energy they use up but they all eat, so much more than us.craft stash 2023 =161, 2024 = 119 2025 = £25.96 spent, 128 made and 5 mended,

Hi all, don't like this new forum at all! I can't read it on my tablet, nor find out how to make it bigger! I know the problem is my eyes, and I could see it with my reading glasses, but i would then have to go and find them every time. I like to drop in and out when I have a minute spare.
Since I was last here, I've done a big stock up shop at Tesco. DD2 was down so i got discount. Total spent £58.28, total saved £6.69. I only bought things that were the same price/price matched to Aldi. Total now spent to date is, £1217.87/£1860. £642ish left. Only need milk bread and fruit now, hopefully.
Hugs to all, mumtoomany.xxxFrugal Living Challenge 2025.6 -
I've got the same problem @mumtoomany! Always seem to have my distance glasses on when I want to read something! I've now invested in a couple of cords so can keep my reading glasses round my neck whilst wearing the distance ones and vice versa. It's a pain but better than struggling to read.
Have always had varifocals in the past but couldn't have them this time as my cataracts have got worse over the last year and now need operating on. Just waiting for a date now!

Hi, @joedenise. I think i need a cord too. Just know that if they are round my neck they'll get broken! Can't do varifocals, I get motion sickness from them. Also from wearing my readers if not sitting down, or moving my head too quickly if i am sitting down wearing them. Or if I sit in the back of a car, or the front of a small car for more than a few miles, or if i try to get something out of the glove box, or try to turn round to see what the DGC are doing in the back. I've always been prone to it unfortunately. Just stick to reading on the PC for now I think. Good luck with the cataracts, both my sister and sister-in law have had them done. Great results for both of them. Hugs, mumtoomany.xxxFrugal Living Challenge 2025.7

Oh the last week has been horrendous. Eldest came down with gastro bug on Monday night, and it's been working its way through the house. I seem to be the last hit. We've got mountains of washing, and I'm just knackered from the whole thing.
Up to €398.94 for the month. Lots of snacks, comfort food, takeaway/freezer food to get us through the last week.
Getting back to minimal cooking today, and using up all the fruit and veg that was ignored.

Hi, hope everyone is well. Just been through bank and spends are now up to £274.18, a lot higher than I need it to be so going to have to put a stop to the spending and get on with what we have as august is going to be an expensive month with kids home and husband has a few weeks off. It’s high because husband is going on an eating healthy kick so got salmon, chicken, loads more fruit. Plus we’ve started the dog on half meat half dry food since she was poorly a few weeks ago. Will find a way to do everything more cheaply when my head is in the right place, just surviving on autopilot at the minute
