    hi
what's the reception like on this radio in your area?
    on both bands?
    fm and dab?
    are there seperate volume buttons?
I owned the roberts dab classic 2 I think it is where the rotery dile acted like the station navigation and the volume dile similtainiusly.
i'm blind what size is this radio?
would it fit in my hand easily?
it mentiones there's a carry strap on the left hand size is that strap made of fabric?
    cheers!

    Hi

I get good reception where I am, I hardly need to put the aerial up.

It's about 18cm long and 10cm high. The top contains all the controls. The top slopes slightly, it's not flat. The left hand half of the top is taken up by the display. In the centre, at the top of the slope is the on/off button. Next going right are two volume buttons, one above the other so vol up and vol down. Next going right are three pre-set buttons one above the next, and finally on the right is a large circular knob which you rotate to find stations and press in to play the selected station.

You can carry the radio in one hand. The carry strap is rubbery, not fabric. It's kind of like a very dense rubber band.

I've noticed there are quite a few used Roberts Play 10s on Ebay - in fact I've just bought another myself for £18!

I just bought a Roberts Play 10 based on the recommendation in this thread of messages. It has better sound than the £70 mid-sized Sony I had previously and costs £25 less!
I had actually gone off Roberts products a bit ever since I paid a decent amount of money last year for one of their turntables only to find out it's performance didn't even exceed that of the budget record player that it was replacing. The turntable went back to John Lewis but I reasoned their core products would still be worth trying so I'm glad I had a listen of the Play 10 when looking at small radios. The sound quality exceeded my expectations especially considering the radio's size and price point.

And no wondering how long the battery has to go - always a bonus when buying second-hand.

Do the recommended radios have an external aerial socket?  I use a radio in a metal boat which acts as a Faraday cage and so it needs an aerial on the outside. The sales documentation for radios often doesnt specify whether one is provided or not.

The Roberts radio discussed certainly doesn't have an external aerial socket and I suggest it'd be very unusual to find a radio that does.

I'm no expert on radios but I suspect if you ran a length of wire from the telescopic aerial (attached with a crocodile clip) up and out to an area in your boat that's more open, you'd find it improved reception?

That used to work for me, not in a boat but same poor reception where the radio was
