DCB Legal / Highview Parking - Letter of Claim - SAR advice.

Hi, my mother has received a Letter of Claim from DBC Legal for a PCN from Highview Parking Ltd from December 2021

After going through the various debt collection letters as usual, and from reading all the posts on here it looks like we're at a point where ignoring is not an option and are going to raise a SAR with GroupNexus.

I would just like to get some thoughts on the SAR and some clarity on the email that should be sent to DCBL. Here's what I'm planning on sending.

[NAME]
[DATE]
[DPO Name and Address]
Dear Sir or Madam
Subject access request (Data Protection Act 2018 / General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR))

Following receipt of a Letter of Claim from DCB Legal about an unpaid Parking Charge Notice, I am writing to obtain all information held about the alleged PCN.

My Details: [Name and address]
[VRN]
[PCN Ref]

Please supply the data about me that I am entitled to under data protection law relating to myself. Specifically, please provide

- ALL photos taken.
all letters/emails sent and received, including any appeal correspondence earlier.
all data held, all evidence they will rely on, and a full copy of the PCN.
and a list of all PCNs outstanding against me and/or this VRN.

If you need any more data from me to confirm my identity please let me know as soon as possible. It may be helpful for you to know that data protection law requires you to respond to a request for data within one calendar month.

If you do not normally deal with these requests, please pass this letter to your Data Protection Officer, or relevant staff member. If you need advice on dealing with this request, the Information Commissioner’s Office can assist you. Its website is [ICO website[ or it can be contacted on 0303 123 1113.

Yours faithfully

Is there anything that needs changing?

Also, could someone point me to a template to send to DCBL. I can't seem to find it on the forum.

Thanks in advance.

    Hello and welcome.

I would remove this sentence -
If you need any more data from me to confirm my identity please let me know as soon as possible.

That's just giving them an excuse to delay matters.

OP, have you based your forum username on your real name? If so, you may want to get your forum username changed to something completely anonymous.

To help with that, have a read of this item from the Forum's FAQs:

    Can I change my username?

In most circumstances, we don't allow this.

The only reason we will change your username is if it puts your privacy at risk e.g. you've inadvertently registered using your name, email address or something which gives away your identity within your username.

If you fall into this category, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com your current username, the email address you registered with and three alternative usernames in order of preference.

We do not advise sending a SAR at all for DCB Legal cases.  The reason for this has been discussed dozens of times recently.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

That's the impression I got from reading a load of posts. What is the recommended action then? could you point me to posts which explain?

Same as I posted earlier today.  It's in my recent replies (in my profile) from this afternoon on another DCB LBC thread.

  • Maybe my original post wasnt clear. I'm talking about sending a SAR to Highview... not to DCBL.
All the info I can find suggests sending a SAR to the PPC. Am I missing something? Could you link me to some specific info otherwise?

Do not send a SAR.   I knew you meant Highview.

I can't link any replies as I don't have them saved. I'd have to do the same search you need to do.  Literally discussed on every single DCB LBC thread since March.

  • OK so what I can gather is I now need to send a 'yours faithfully' email to DCBL?
Still not 100 sure if thats right or what to write in it. Perhaps its information overload on the forum making me second guess.

Also, the only email I have to dcbl is the info@ address at the top of the LoC. Shall I send to that?

What to write in it is in the examples I've written over the years, which will come up in your forum search results. I gave that other poster some search words.

Basically you spell out your dispute.
