EDF, We need to upgrade your meter as soon as possible due to upcoming industry changes.
Apparently "Your current electricity meter uses the Radio TeleSwitch (RTS) service, which relies on radio signals to switch your meter between on and off-peak hours. RTS is an industry run service which is coming to an end^."
Is that correct? Do I have to have a smart meter installed?
I have economy 7 heating (no gas).

EDF explain it all here:

So you have until March 31, 2024.
What will happen then if you resist having a smart meter installed is not clear.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards. From an Ofgem letter to all suppliers dated April 2023. The pressure is now on to get this sorted.

Thank-you all for the replies and links. I have had a read and it makes more sense.
My property was built in 1988, my meter looks to be a dual rate meter with it's own internal clock.0 -

... and to ensure that no customers endure loss of supply or any loss of functionality as a result.
So what happens when British Gas install a smart meter that they can't get to work with E7?

So what happens when British Gas install a smart meter that they can't get to work with E7?BG have been declining to install smart meters for E7 customers.I guess they will have to eventually sort out their back-end to support them properly, but goodness knows how long that will take.N. We have a white meter tariff (inherited from Seeboard in London) which runs from 10:30-7:30 GMT year-round, but are currently charged on an E7 tariff, which is clearly to our advantage. Does anyone have any experience whether EDF correctly install smart meters to preserve the grandfathered tariff?0

Our bills from Scottish Power always come with invitation to change to smart meter.
All meters in our retirement complex are Comfortplus. One resident gave in to pressure and arranged for smart meter, but when installer came he took one look at complex meter and said couldn't change to smart meter.
You'll see in notice posted above that it says some issues are still to be solved with complex scenarios.0
