The isolation valve could have been put underneath the wc ( so accessible).
Then you could have a lot smaller boxing in, and could have been tiled to match the wall tiles.
To all those who think that the large ugly pipe boxing looks ok. You must have far greater lower standards than myself.
If you can give me a reason why the above couldn’t be achieved, then please do so.
The OP asked for advice on boxing in these pipes, so you suggest rearranging the pipes and then abuse them for doing a pretty decent DIY job with the materials that they had available.
"if you don't agree with me, you must have lower standards" - gosh, you must be fun to know.
with just a little more thought and time. Instead ended up imo poor job. And I think in time the op will regret not having it done to a better standard.
And care to tell me what abuse I have given the Op .
Maybe I do have an issue? Like taking pride in my work, for myself and customers benefit.
This is done now and i have moved on.
It's a rental property and it is what it is.
The builder could have been better but with the budget etc hopefully better mext tine but it's done now.2 -
I think that's a perfectly good outcome given everything, especially budget and time. It actually looks better than I'd expected, and impressively fast action.
Plumb would undoubtedly have carried out a notably superior job, but for Zoe to have had it done to that standard would have come at a significant additional cost, and time.
Plumb also suggested a way of lessening its impact by reducing its size, and it was for Zoe and her builder to act on this if they'd wished - which they didn't, which is absolutely fair enough. (I think it could possibly even be argued that a lower boxing-in could have poorer aesthetics as it could look obviously like the boxing in of an unwanted pipe, whereas the current solution possibly looks more balanced and almost practical - coasters optional?)
At all times, and on all the threads I have seen him on, Plumb is nothing but professional and genuinely helpful. Any 'criticism' is given for constructive use, and not to be disparaging.2 -
Interesting. Good job, nice bathroom for a rental and landlords get slated for overpriced dumps! When I first suggested plastic there was no picture and I did imagine it was a 100 x 100mm type floor level boxing. The matching tiles might have been a pig to track down and a pain to work with - who knew? I now feel ashamed of my low standards, more so because I think they did a pretty decent job. Rental back on the market and probably would be tenanted now, but I bet they all turned the place down because it wasn't tiled.Mr Generous - Landlord for more than 10 years. Generous? - Possibly but sarcastic more likely.2

Glad you are happy with it OP
I agree with @plumb1_2, the bathroom looks really smart but the plastic looks cheap in comparison, a tiled finished with the pipe work lower so the box ended at the top of the first row of tiles would have been a much better finish. Being white it will also highlight dust which will gather on the sort of corrugated bit as well as the top and it'll be a bind to keep it looking clean but it is what it is.

I doubt anyone thinking of renting it would turn it down because the boxing in is a bit bigger than it could have been... Also if selling in the future, no buyer is going to say it is perfect for them if it wasn't for that damn boxing in not being tiled !1
