It looks like Barclays won't be charging for Premier Now, at least not at the moment.

From what I can see the one ‘perk’ of this account is the upgraded withdrawal limit, they upgraded the account there and then (online) and when I called for a black card was told I needed a credit search?! Why, to withdraw more from a machine? Nah you’re ok I’ll save the stupid credit search.SupaSava2000 said:
I didn’t get the black card either. When I called them to get it after six months of premier the first CS adviser told me she had ordered it for me and would be with me in 5 days etc. never arrived and when I phoned back they said that they couldn’t see any sign of an order. They tried to order it again but she said she couldn’t see the option and I should try asking in branch!!!wizzywig27 said:I upgraded to this from my existing account. They haven’t sent me a black card, requested a new one and it’s showing in the app and it’s still blue. No biggie just don’t understand why they advertise a black card but don’t send one
Access to Premier Avios rewards is the main incentive. But even then it's not really that good unless you're a huge BA fan and have already worked out a use for the upgrade voucher. If you swap the voucher for a points bonus, then covert the whole lot to Nectar then you end up with £165 worth of Nectar per year for £144 worth of monthly fees. Hardly the king's ransom.

This just makes no sense. They refused to give me a £500 claiming I failed their affordability, but I got a black card without issue.0

Perhaps in the mind of Barclays, but not in mine. If you are prepared to give one of your customers a premium product, you should be prepared to trust them with an overdraft. Which Barclays did give me one day before switch.... Their processes are mixed up.WillPS said:Deleted_User said:This just makes no sense. Yes, you're choosing to conflate two different things.

It makes it clear on the website that overdrafts are subject to affordability:Deleted_User said:This just makes no sense. They refused to give me a £500 claiming I failed their affordability, but I got a black card without issue.
As a Premier customer, you can apply for an interest-free arranged overdraft of up to £500. Overdrafts, including interest-free amounts, are subject to application, financial circumstances and borrowing history.
You could have the scenario where someone meets the eligibility for Premier but has a large amount of unsecured debt for example and Barclays are not prepared to provide additional credit facilities.
When I moved to Barclays Premier in 2014/5 they refused to give me an overdraft initially- even though my salary was paid into the account and I had a 5k overdraft with my previous bank. 6 months later they gave me a 1k overdraft, but only after seeing a years worth of pay slips. Though 3 months later they allowed me to up it to 15k!

Presumably that was £500 interest free and £14500 not interest free right? Would’ve been a stoozing field day otherwise!Se1Lad said:

I held a standard Barclays account and the bank point blank refused to grant me an overdraft after seven months of operating the account full salary etc, even the CS dept could not understand why. On paper I could easily afford it.
I went into branch, and the lady told me, to get an overdraft you must upgrade to premier. I did so, and after a month I was offered an overdraft, but I had already started a switch by then. In my mind to have customers who are premier but have bad debts or cannot be trusted with overdrafts just does not go together. If you can get premier, you should be able to get an overdraft, that's how I would run it.0 -
At the time it was still £1000 interest free. The other £14,000 was at the normal interest rates sadly! I never went over the £1000 interest free buffer though.ForumUser7 said:

In this case the website and reality appear to be the same though:Deleted_User said:
