It looks like Barclays won't be charging for Premier Now, at least not at the moment.

Got this when I logged in tonight.

Just out of curiosity, can you meet their criteria "Pay in a gross annual income of at least £75,000" simply by sending in money from your other accounts, then send it back, then pay in again next month, etc.? It worked for me with HSBC Advance and now Club Lloyds, but not sure if it would work here.

Possibly, but to be honest I don't think the account is worth it, in the past it was good, free chocolates from Thornton's, free wine, free English heritage membership etc. But now all you have left is a Black Debit card with a 2k a day ATM limit (I personally would not feel comfortable withdrawing £2k from a Cash Machine), and a interest free £500 OD (Was £1000), and a freephone number to a UK call Centre.Alex9384 said:Just out of curiosity, can you meet their criteria "Pay in a gross annual income of at least £75,000" simply by sending in money from your other accounts, then send it back, then pay in again next month, etc.? I opened it when they were running the big Avios signup bonus last year.
I do meet the eligibility criteria but never bothered moving my salary to this account. I'll be downgrading once they start charging for it.0 -
I had a similar message but it said
“Although you wouldn't have paid the Premier Banking fee yet as a new Premier customer, we wanted to let you know we've decided it's not the right time to introduce it. We've updated our tariff to reflect this change. You don't need to do anything.”
I’m not sure of the point at which you’re no longer class as a new Premier customer.

First year the fee was supposedly 'waived' (to give you an opportunity to change your salary payments, do a CASS etc.). It appears in fact that it was never charged.Who in their right mind would have paid £20/month, I have no idea.1 -
They told me to upgrade to get an overdraft. I did and made no difference, switched away and one day before switch they offered the overdraft. I don't earn 75k. Seems to be a mess atm at Barclays, a strange bank. I am convinced they care little for retail.0

Yes the old benefits were great. I think there was free coffee too from Patisserie ValerieSaver101101 said:

Don’t they request payslips to ensure you fulfil the salary requirement though? Guessing I couldn’t sign up and just transfer some funds around each month.AlwaysLearnin said:
