Hmmm...they might miss their DQ and deadline, so they'll need someone at home opening their post just in case.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

- defence filed 12th June
- at best, defence with Claimant 20th June
- Claimant filed DQ - say 1st July
- DQ sent to Defendant 7th July
- Defendant has 28 days to respond - now into August.
But the CCBC may surprise us with no delays.2 -
Never wait till the last minute to do anything. There's a case law graveyard of those that have tried and missed key dates.
I'd be getting the defence in and printing off and filing my own DQ before heading off to LHR.
Once completed it needs to be allocated and a judge to look at it. That'll take a week or two. There's a risk something could get missed, of course, but the o/p will need to weigh that up. No-one can answer with any certainty.
Best guess, is that the court will want to give the parties min 21 days to file evidence, which is the end of July and possibly more likely early August at the earliest - depending on the date the judge looks at it. Were I laying wagers, I'd guess a November hearing with bundles in October, given term dates and current HMCTS resources.6 -
In Word select the print option, when it loads up you should be able to select a "Print to pdf" option as the printer, Choose that, click the Print button, and it will open up a box asking you to choose a file name and location for the pdf

Good morning,
I am submitting the Defence today via email and a bit of anxiety is kicking in... Can I do a last minute final check please that nothing has changed since Keith's last advice in the newbies thread, and that it is still Okay to submit the Defence as PDF via email WITH ELECTRONIC SIGNATURE??? I don't have access to a scanner to scan a signed copy unfortunately. Many thanks!!!
Have a great day everyone.0 -
You could "sign it digitally" as many people say they have but if you are concerned you could take a photo of your signature on a piece of white paper and save that as a .jpeg to be added to the bottom of your defence.0

Using the 2016 case precedent of Jopson v. Homeguard Service Limited,
to this:
The Defendant will rely upon the persuasive appeal case heard by HHJ Charles Harris QC at Oxford: Jopson v Homeguard Services Ltd [2016] - claim number B9GF0A9E - which is on all fours with the extant case.
...and make the rest much more concise. Save the detail for WS stage.

You can just type your name. As long as you keep a copy of the original document with your actual signature for future reference then you don't even need a digital signature:
