House about half a mile away has a personal plate, spotted it at least 30yrs ago, and always assumed the owner is a 'Richard' who has a great sense of humour ...... A1 DCKMart. Cardiff. 8.72 kWp PV systems (2.12 SSW 4.6 ESE & 2.0 WNW). 28kWh battery storage. Two A2A units for cleaner heating. Two BEV's for cleaner driving.

The ones that get me are the BMW X5 users that have their cars debadged, and then have X5 as part of the reg...CliveOfIndia said:

Even worse when you then see it on the back of a Ford Fiesta2 -
I ran a poll in a fb group of a particular model of car as to how many people had a private plate fitted, whether it was initials, car name, person's name, something memorable, or just dateless compared to having the original factory registration number, and it came back (with several hundred responses) that 75% of the group had a private plate of one kind or another fitted. When I was looking for my current car, the last one I looked (that I didn't buy) had had 11 private plates in its lifetime. The one I have now had 2 previous private plates, and I have one too. It's something personal to me, as it was a discussion with my late dad around the fact he'd wished he'd kept his first car's numberplate as it would now be worth a pretty penny. In the discussions he bought one for me as his final Christmas present, it was cheap enough at £250 including the transfer fee, and it'll always mean something to me, when I see the plate, I think of that conversation, one of the last we had, and I don't really care what others might or might not think.7

Another one I remember when I was a youngster. There was a Mini near us, the reg was something like A 12 JAG, and even as kid I thought to myself, he could make a fortune selling it to someone who owned a Jaguar (back in the good old days when Jags were really something quite special!)ontheroad1970 said:

C140 PAL
On a modified Clio or Pug or something.
On the one hand it took a few seconds thinking to work it out (so it ought to be naff), but on the other hand once it became clear, I realised it was genius.0 -
