Pennypincin said:Popped into Tesco for a few bits, just enough for the next few days including 6 cartons of long life milk and am shocked to have spent just over £18. Especially a its mainly salad stuff and forgot the lettuce.
I can't afford to add more to the pot for food at the moment and am doing slimming world and finding it tough.
I'm dreading having to fill the freezer as I've had the added expense of needing to buy a new one as my current one is on its way out any day now after accidentally leaving the freezer door open slightly a couple of weeks ago.
It's 10 years old and really don't want to be replacing it, but it's stopped working twice since leaving the door open and only just managed to get it going again.
Sorry for the long post and a moan.
Any tips will be much appreciated.
We also acquired a freezer from FB marketplace that works fine - just ices up a bit more than perfect but OK if built into our plansSave £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)
OS Grocery Challenge in 2025 I am at £1286.68/£3000 or 42.89% of my annual spend so far

DD3 has come to stay for a few days, so making the most of her discount at farmfoods. Sticker up on cooking oil, 20 litres, cheese, 12 blocks, and pasatta, 24 packs. Also a couple of other bits. Bought dedicated coconut, biscuits, tomatoes, and cereal, on Sunday, at Smithfield market, as we were in the North west.
Total spends to date now are, £1161.32/£1860. For the year.

£200 budget, £102.20 spent, £97.80 left.
We went to Asda for a sunhat and shorts for DH.
Checked the yellow stickers and got a cauliflower 24p and green beans 18p and some liver for 61p. I shall freeze half of the liver. The basic muesli has gone up to £1.68.
Their Extra Special Ugandan and Madagascan dark chocolate is free from Soya Lecithin, at £1.50 for 100g. We share a bar of the basic dark chocolate 43p for 100g as a Sunday treat, perhaps a bit less, better chocolate will suffice. We are cutting down on Ultra Processed Food.7 -
I have not been tracking up to now for June, life just got a bit hectic but have sat down with all receipts and spend to date is...£209.71 with my budget for the month at £270. It's going to be a struggle to come under budget this month.
I just cannot think how I have spent so much especially as we hardly ever buy treat items such as cakes, biscuits, desserts, fizzy drinks or crisps. It's just meal items for two adults and I haven't really been buying any extra bits for storing as I had planned to We are both vegan and don't often buy replacement meat products but do eat a lot of fresh veg, fruit, tofu and vegan cheese which is expensive. We have recently been having yogurt again as it was on special offer for Alpro at £1.50 per pot but it's back up to £2.10 again so taking it off the menu. We do have some lovely meals though so guess it's worth it and hopefully the allotment produce will kick in next month and it wil be courgettes with everything!
Hope everyone fairing well.

Has anyone had success with making vegetable crisps. I'm not able to eat potato crisps and the veg crisps so expensive and very welcome at this time of year. Thanks

I am losing the plot in this lovely weather. I thought I was very organised after 18months on this challenge! However I have lost sight of the meal plan. Scratched things off as too hot to cook them and am also finding it hard to think of food at the moment. Fish and chips on the beach last night paid for by DH. Lovely evening. We ate at 7.45 and still very hot. Lovely to see so many familys enjoying the sea. Well I am back on the case today. Wish me luck.
