Plot completely lost here! I've added £120 for this weekend's spends, which I think is pretty much about right, but I have to admit it's really nothing more than an educated guess, based on what's come out of the bank & what I have left in my purse. It's been blisteringly busy (in a nice way!) between business & family, and the receipts just seem to have flown away. I'll try for a better accounting later on, but didn't want to miss posting in case things get silly-busy again.
OH & I are away from mid-week until next Sunday, so I'm hoping next week will be an inexpensive one...Angie - GC Jul 25: £225.85/£500 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)8 -

Good evening All
We’re currently at £136.10/£142.50 leaving £6.40 for the rest of the month
How the hell did that happen? It’s only the 18th! And I’m not including the £20 DH spent at a farmer’s market last Monday, on strawberries, raspberries and 1kg scotch bonnet chillies, (now in the freezer). He took the money for those from the Bulk Fund and not the Housekeeping.
I’m not going to list every shop here, but I have been tracking them. They include a big (£55) shop in L!dl at the start of the month, plus several visits to MrT’s and Sainsbugs to track down decent bags of peppers (more red/yellow/orange ones than green), plus a visit to a local greengrocer to buy 3kg onions for £2.49.
Fortunately, after yesterday’s shop at L!dl (£19.87 spent) we’re now well stocked up on eggs and fresh veg (potatoes, sweet potatoes, peppers, broccoli, pak choi and mushrooms). If I plan things carefully enough, we should be able to get to the end of the month without purchasing anything else except more fresh veg. Fingers crossed!
Meal plans for the next few days:
All breakfasts are cereal; while lunches are leftovers; snacks are home made flapjack and the remaining strawberriesMonday: Chicken hot & sour soup (complete with noodles, mushrooms and pak choi)
Tuesday: Broccoli pasta (made with crème fraiche, chorizo and cheddar)
Wednesday: Chicken Tray Bake (includes rice, bulgar wheat, peas, sweetcorn and sweet potatoes)
Thursday: we’re out for dinner with friends from Australia
Friday: ?Carrot & Cashew Nut Roast or I may make an onion quiche with pastry from the freezer

I had a supermarket delivery yesterday coming to £68.62 that restocked me on fruit, veg, cheese & toiletries. I feel like I'm doing ok so far this month as we're well over half way now.

I've been very lucky with Olio - lovely seeded bread, posh lettuce and a dozen organic eggs from Waitrose .... egg sandwiches for lunch today and scrambled egg tomorrow. We also got some fancy yoghurts, potatoes and loads of bananas. I've just made a banana cake for the week.
I used up last week's home made ginger cake by turning it to crumbs, topping with tinned mandarins and orange jelly and will top with leftover custard later to create a sort of trifle.
still doing ok with budget but have used freezer stocks a bit this month.

Morning all, big shop from Tesco on Sunday £75.02 plus I did ice cream restock and a few other things from Iceland on Friday £48.05. Husband spent £9.67 on a few bits yesterday, technically not grocery but coming out of that money anyway. It’s been really good upping the budget and having fresh salad most days in the heat, soft fruits and more stuff that the kids want but I am finding myself more worried about how much things cost than when we were on a lower budget. £400 still seems a lot to me but it doesn’t seem to last very long at all.£268.16/4007

Shopping again, OH needed a part for the grass cutter. Aldi, Iceland and the veg shop. Total spent, £14.98. Got 24 eating apples, 4 cooking apples, 20 nectarines, punnets of grapes, single plum, 2 lettuce, punnet mushrooms, 2 milk, small bag carrots, 7 bananas, bag peanuts, loaf, bag of sweets, for OH and 6 toilet rolls. Not too bad! I've just read "ultra processed people". I think we maybe eating less processed food, if we can afford to.
Total spends to date, £1138.79/£1860. Hugs, mumtoomany.xxFrugal Living Challenge 2025.6 -

Good luck @mum2many its very tight but if anyone can do it you can. £2.20 spent on veg today. Really trying to eat from freezer but not sure how much longer I can go without shopping. I am keeping a running list of things that I have run out of and trying to only replace, as I need unless its on offer. I am determined to come in under last years total but it is getting harder and harder. On a positive note lots of strawberrys and raspberrys picked from garden today.craft stash 2023 =161, 2024 = 119 2025 = £17.98 spent, 128 made and 5 mended,
