Trying to order on Amazon without free Prime trial

I'll be pleased when my order arrives, and everything is O.K.
I'll be very wary of using Amazon again, twopenny, but will keep my account open for now.1 -
I'm a regular Amazon user, but not enough to justify Prime membership. I just wait until I've got enough goods in my basket (fulfilled by Amazon) to get free delivery, which they have quietly increased from £20 to £25.
Whenever they offer a free Prime trial for 30 days, I take it and immediately cancel, but it still runs for 30 days. They don't offer it very often now, probably because I've used and cancelled so many times.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards. twopenny said:I've been reading because I used to be a fan of Amazon as easy to use but rarely use it now.
I first inadvertently clicked on the Amazon Prime because of the way it was placed but after a kerfufle to get it cancelled and refunded they did.
Next came a very wrong delivery which required the return to be taken 18miles to a depot during lockdown/unable to scan the returns label/getting to a library for advice and printing a label and post office.
Now i think I'm ordering with free delivery and its not.
So now I've stopped using it.
Not sure what marketing advice they are being given but it does drive customers elsewhere.Drinking Rum before 10am makes you

As this thread started about Amazon enrolling people into prime without their consent and then making it difficult/imposible to cancel, readers may be interested in this from the USA.The FTC yesterday, 21 June 2023, filed a complaint in court against Amazon for the practice:"The Commission files a complaint when it has “reason to believe” that the named defendants are violating or are about to violate the law and it appears to the Commission that a proceeding is in the public interest. The case will be decided by the court."

Thanks, Newcad. My order came without Amazon Prime and I was pleased. A few weeks later I tried to make a second order, also without Amazon Prime free trial.
On the second attempt it was impossible, even using 'deselect' using 'Chat.' It was so much hassle and time wasting, I did not proceed with the order and completely cancelled my Amazon account.
With perseverance I managed it the first time but, last time, Chat absolutely insisted I had to accept then cancel. I didn't want to waste more time and I now won't order from Amazon. If things change in future I'll reconsider but my Amazon Account is definitely closed.2 -
Trying to order from Amazon now and the "No Thanks" box doesn't work - it's still wanting to charge me postage though. Grrr!1

I too made another attempt but yes, despite the 'free delivery' it's not without some secret password or spell.I've tried taking only free delivery items, getting the order over the given amount so free postage. I get that it's only things sold by Amazon but that's not clear either.Don't mind paying a bit of postage but it's not showing what, where, why, how.
