My account comes with a spend on cardless 20 times in a month, get £5. However the card payments go out days after ive actually spent them so TSB wont give me the £5. Anybody else had this?

My understanding is that the transactions have to complete in the calendar month to apply - so if you made twenty transactions on the 30th - and they didn't hit the account to the 2nd of the following month - they wouldn't apply. If you're having trouble making 20 transactions - and you use Amazon - use Amazon to auto top up a pound a day - that'll easily make your transaction count.

Anybody else had this?Ignore when you used your Debit card. Just refer to when they hit your online transaction, when it is actually debited from your account. Also keep in in mind if for whatever reason the money is returned to your account, it does not count. For that reason it is important to spend it and check it few days before the final day of the month.0

Anybody else had this?Yes. I've been caught out by this on one month (at the beginning). When I opened the account TSB website said 'When you make 30 debit card payments each calendar month'. Notice the 'make'. I've kept screenshots. After I was caught out, waded through all the documents 'with a magnifying glass'. There's a document called 'your Spend & Save or Spend & Save Plus current account'. It has a picture of cupcake on the title page and "Hello" written in bold letters. That document says (MSE Quote feature not working, so having to use quotation marks) :"Cashback is only available on opening a new Spend & Save or Spend & Save Plus account or on changing an existing TSB account to a Spend & Save or Spend & Save Plusaccount. Cashback is only earned when you make 30 transactions or more on your debit card each calendar month, and is only payable for the first six calendar monthson Spend & Save accounts, including the month the account is opened. Not all transactions count towards Cashback, for example cash withdrawals and Direct Debits areexcluded. See terms and conditions."Notice the 'See terms and conditions'. I've gone through the terms and conditions. By this I mean the personal banking terms and conditions (as it doesn't specify which terms and conditions - it ought to have said 'See Spend & Save or Spend & Save Plus Cashback Terms and Conditions'). Nothing about the transaction having to complete before the end of the month on there. Maybe I missed it, so if you find it please highlight it and reply here. Then I checked the terms and conditions document called 'Spend & Save or Spend & Save Plus Cashback Terms and Conditions.' (TSB Reference: TSB13691 (08/20)). guess what?. Yes, it's on there - Term 2.3:"We’ll count payments based on the date the money is taken from your account. This is usually within 5 working days from the day you make the debit card transaction, but sometimes can be longer. You can tell when money is taken from your account by looking at your transactions online or on your statement."However, I think this ought to have been made clear on the webpage when I opened the account. Not just say 'When you MAKE 30 debit card payments each calendar month'. I will be complaining to TSB.I know there will be forumites here jumping to point fingers and say 'It's your fault for not reading the terms and conditions'. Thank you for that. However, I believe the information and the language used on the TSB website during account opening was unclear. If TSB does not agree I will take this to the financial ombudsman service.
edit: the number of transactions is now 20 (not 30). TSB reduced it in February this year I believe (I was notified via email).0 -
OceanSound - completely agree with you.0

Walk or cycle to Aldi at 9pm (when quiet) on the 5th of each month and buy 20 tins of 25p baked beans or noodles in 20 separate contactless transactions thru the self-service tills in one go. The staff will think you're nuts
, but their tills are very fast, plenty of time for the transactions to process within the month, and you'll get free £30 cash and 120 affordable high-fibre meals over 6 months.

I just do the automated £1/day Amazon top up payments, same as what @cymruchris mentioned above. Easy hassle free way of doing it.

What's with the regular posters writing a post then deleting it without word or explanation?
Had this from forumite @adindas earlier:
"Is this not exactly what I said before. There is a good reason for that, for that reason apply to any DC spending in majority (if not all) of the current accou…"
Where he/she/they quoted the terms I had highlighted in bold.
Now I check and his/her/their post is gone. Must be some round about way of messaging me, but how come not not using personal messaging? I'd say that's the most appropriate method. Unless of course he/she/they realized a mistake/error on their post and deleted it, in which case it makes sense to have a 'reason for deletion'. So when we follow the link on the email notification we can see why they deleted it!!0 -

What make you think I will need to pm you ??your quotation is exactly what I said before:We’ll count payments based on the date the money is taken from your account. This is usually within 5 working days from the day you make the debit card transaction, but sometimes can be longer. You can tell when money is taken from your account by looking at your transactions online or on your statement."After thinking twice, I just try to avoid getting any argument for those who has personal interest himself. If you have personal interest rather than public interest people will say anything to defend it. No point in getting involved in such argument, just wasting time. You are entitled to do what, it is your case and your time.0 -

So, anyone following the link after you deleted the post is left scratching their head as to what you may have said after the ...... Not a good practice, i'm afraid!0 -
I just opened a new TSB one to restart the clock for £5 monthly reward. No more Switching incentive unfortunately. But this account will possibly be switched again once the £5 monthly reward is over.To me I prefer not to pick up a fight which is difficult to win, might cost more of your time, put you on the spotlight. This might limit your opportunity in the future when another opportunity, switching, reward in the future.0
