I just opened a new TSB one to restart the clock for £5 monthly reward. No more Switching incentive unfortunately. But this account will possibly be switched again once the £5 monthly reward is over.
To me I prefer not to pick up a fight which is difficult to win, might cost more of your time, put you on the spotlight. This might limit your opportunity in the future when another opportunity, switching, reward in the future.
When you say new, do you have an existing Spend & Save? If so I'd be interested to know if you can see both old and new debit cards and inboxes in your app. TSB have given up trying to get mine merged. On the plus side, both £5 rewards were credited yesterday.
I would say he does. The £5 monthly reward is specific to  spend and save accounts. With the standard spend and save the reward runs for six months. So by opening another account he receives another 6 months monthly reward for the new account.

It'll be too early for him to tell us if the debit cards and inboxes issue affects him, as he only just opened new account. I've been affected by it (but haven't tried to get it sorted)  and at least another couple of forumites I know of.

I believe one of them was able to  get it sorted. I'll look for the post  and post it here if you're interested.
TSB cannot merge my details completely and are no longer interested after giving me a small complaint payment, so I'll volunteer one of the accounts as switch fodder once the reward runs out and keep the other for access to the regular saver.

I am not using an app I am using online banking. I have done that a few times in  the past. They will automatically merge it after a few days (typically a week) and you could see all of the accounts in one login. I used to have six of them, all of them are shown i the same login.

Online banking isn't any better - I can see both accounts with any login details but each login only shows a different set of card and inbox info. TSB CS said to have more than one Spend & Save account I'd have to create a new profile for the switch offer a while back and it's all fudged since then.
The 20 x card payments for the reward are easy enough to approve in the app (if an online transaction), and for the newer account I get an SMS code instead. Their IT systems seem a bit of a mess to put it mildly.

The post I was talking about was by forumite  @k_man and it was this:

As above, I needed to contact TSB, as the new accounts merged to the old profile, but not the debit cards.

Turns out there was a minor mismatch on details between old and new profiles.

Once they resolved this, the profiles merged successfully. Be aware though this takes upto 10 days, and for a day or two some details are in limbo in the app/online banking (e.g. new profile stopped working, before debit card moved to old profile).
How about if you contact TBS support again and tell them a colleague of yours had similar issue and they (TSB support) investigated and found a minor mismatch on details between old and new profiles. Maybe it will give them some clues to work with.

I've only contacted TSB support once for another matter, the support agent told me what the problem was immediately (after checking). I was trying to use my debit card online and it was being declined. Support agent checked and said I was inputting the expiry date incorrectly. Actually I was. I double checked and input the correct expiry and it worked.

BTW, in addition to showing a different set of card info and inbox, are you able to order a new PIN code for example (or may be order the PIn for a different card - not the card specific to the account logged into)? I tried this once and an error came up 'unknown error' or such like.

The only information discrepancy I can remember between the two accounts was my gender, and I don't tend to change that very often so not sure how that happened.

Manage cards / PIN is the same details for both accounts which is obviously incorrect. I've made my peace with having broken TSB accounts, and will just let them wither away and become dormant, ready for switching fodder once the rewards stop.
Fair enough. It's good idea (use them as switching fodder once rewards expire). 'don't tend to change gender too often'. LOL.

BTW, probably defending the indefensible here, but what would you say if someone says 'well, those issues about showing the same details for both accounts is trivial, as we would probably be able to manage cards by contacting TSB support via chat or phone. Wheareas, the problems TSB used to have were much grave and these current problems are an improvement to how things were'.

    How would you respond?
I couldn’t give a tinker’s fig if previously TSB card management was a combination of funny handshakes and dark rituals behind closed doors, it still doesn’t work as it should.
How do you access the inbox for each account by the way? I can only access one inbox (the main account). The rest is ....well,  history.. although important yet inaccessible.

I keep receiving emails to say I have new correspondence, but what good is that if I cannot see them.
I can only access my initial account inbox - if I used my newer login details I probably could, but someone posted on here that having two active profiles really confuses TSB's system. I don't think I'm missing out on any important docs (at least I hope not). I'm not overdrawn in either account, so all I would ever really need in writing is a certificate of interest which I would have access to as the saver is linked with my first account.

After upgrading my classic TSB account to the free Spend & Save one I only got five £5 before they stopped. Perhaps the first month was too short to count? I did do 6 months of either 30 or later 20 Debit card transactions. But last months has not resulted in £5!

When did you do the transaction in the first month? and when did they appear on the account after processing (not as 'pending' - that doesn't count).

Checked and see my account was converted just at the end of October so missed out on the first of the 6 months. Just one of those things!

There are posts on this forum that mentions we should apply at the start of the month just to prevent the scenario you were in. Must admit I only saw them after I had applied (towards the end of the month) and received the debit card towards end of month. So the transactions I did appeared  in the next month thereby missing out on the first month.

All the posts I've seen talked about applying for new account. I guess, we can now safely say it applies to converted accounts too.

In fairness to TSB they do state on the website or the terms (somewhere obvious this time round) that the month we apply counts too. I guess that's a round about way of saying apply earlier in the month/ don't apply later in the month because you may receive card towards end of month, which means you may carry out transactions at the end of the month, thereby risking transactions appearing in the following month.

Yes for me. I do it for two of my TSB S&S accounts, so 40x DC spending a month altogether. One will expire this month but it is already replaced by a new account.

I set up a £1/day auto top up on Amazon for the TSB card, takes a few seconds to set up and then you just leave it doing it's thing.  Easiest way to qualify :)

This is my lazy method of choice too. Used to machine through 30 NS&I payments but it was a bit of a grind.
