Can't get Freeview on

If it had the wrong connector, are you sure there's actually a TV aerial on the other end of the cable?Satellite and cable TV use different connectors to the normal TV aerial plug.If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.1 -
Yes it's a smart TV with built-in Freeview. I had broadband newly set up yesterday, it seemed to connect. I will look into resetting.mi-key said:
Ah is your TV a smart one with the freeview built into it? If it is it could be that its not connecting up to your internet service, so may need resetting as the settings will be different than those in your old house.monaymadlol said:
Yes I tried that earlier, I'm not getting the HD channels, 101 etc only SDgrumbler said:

Different methods of getting a signal to the TV, ext antenna and wi-fi operate differently. Please do not confuse them. I have sky dish and antenna on the house neither of which I use but get watch online and plug in the HDMI from the lap top or use fire stick.
If you plug into the aerial socket and try to tune the tv, do you get a signal strength indicator? If you get limited (no) signals it is most likely that the antenna system is inoperative in some way. This may need help to resolve but will cost. Does it give you any benefit?
If you are trying to connect to the internet services you need to ensure you have connected to an internet service provide, either household wifi or possibly via phone if you have sufficient data on your account.
See here: https://www.wikihow.com/Connect-a-Samsung-TV-to-Wireless-Internet#:~:text=This%20wikiHow%20will%20show%20you%20how%20to%20connect,go%20to%20Wireless%20and%20select%20your%20Wi-Fi%20network.
Once you have the wifi (data) connection then the in-built apps on the tv should be able to recover data/video/streaming etc.

Reset TV no effect, reset smarthub no effect.
Autoscan again shows I get 121 channels
Freeview says I can access 136
So I'm missing the 7 HD channels and 8 others0 -
TV wallplates nowadays are Male Belling Lee for TV, Female Belling Lee for FM/DAB. TVs have female sockets, FM/DAB tuners male.
Thus a Male to Female fly lead can be used for both units' fly leads.
Older TV installs frequently needed a male to male lead for TV.
Satellite connections are almost invariably F-plug/socket screw connections.
Pictures of what you have would help. As might the TV model number, to check its specs.
It sounds like a lack of signal though.
Try a different fly lead between socket and TV.
A manual scan of the correct transmitter frequency would be one way to attempt to get the HD transmitter multiplex frequency (and access the signal level/quality meter).
Use the Freeview 'Professional/detailed' view for those:

Owner or Renter? If the latter speak to the Landlord.
Previous owner/tenant may have powered off a distribution amplifier box (in a cupboard or loft space). They may (or movers may) have removed a masthead amplifier power supply in error. Either would account for poor/odd reception results.1 -
Remember that one area can be covered by more than one transmitter. Where I am there is a local transmitter which has fewer channels which means no HD, but has stronger signal strength, there is also a transmitter further away which has a weaker but perfectly usable signal that includes the full spectrum of channels.monaymadlol said:

Can you actually watch those freeview channels on the TV ? or are they just blank when you try and tune into them?monaymadlol said:Reset TV no effect, reset smarthub no effect.

The wall plate has SAT1 SAT2 TV RADIO.
The TV has a pin input (male?) same as my TV aerial wire so I bought a female coupler to attach. Attach appears a bit loose, I don't know if that is an issue?
Previous property the Aerial cable joined up, no coupler needed.
I'm an owner, leasehold apartment
By fly lead, do you mean different coupler? The one I bought was from Amazon.
I can't see any boxes etc anywhere and I can't see how anything may have been removed, I'm on 2nd floor with another above. It's an old building though ~100 years0 -
The transmitter according to the Freeview site is based 10 miles or so from me. The picture quality on SD is fine but no better than previously. So I'm missing the HD terrestrial channels and a few othersMattMattMattUK said:

If it's a flat, it can be a shared antenna. If so, ask neighbours about their experience.
