I've spent a total of £27.84 across 3 small shops over the last 2 days picking up bits like bread, cheese, fruit and veg.
Last weekend's attempt to add to the list of acceptable family meals wasn't a success. I made pea, lemon & mozzarella tart and it was voted yuck by the child. The courgette, pistachio and chocolate cake recipe he chose was nice but very dark and rich and we've only managed to get through about half of it so far. This weekend's attempt will be butternut, thyme and brown bread pudding (a sort of savoury bread pudding) so we'll see how that goes. 🤞
I'm up to £208.39/£250 for the month now so I should be OK as long as not too much extra is needed next week during half term.7 -
Final shop for May done this morning which was just salad stuff to take away with us as we go tomorrow. Calling May at £126.10/£150 which means I've come in under budget by £14.88! Really pleased with that as I'd reduced the budget due to going away for a week earlier in the month and away in our motorhome from tomorrow.7

So May is done and we came up by a grand total of £1.55 🥳🥳🥳 hub remembered he was owed but managed to get away with just buying him crisps and beer to make it back and as a result saved a couple of quid. Actually just means he paid for the reef diffuser he seemed to think we needed 😂
Pleased with that again but our cupboards and now looking bare. It was the fridge last month and the tins but they’re okay still which should help see us to the weekend without spending much more. The cupboards however are really lacking! Off to June!Follow here for the daily life of an ADHD mum with 2 children and a new mortgage to pay

I've not been posting this month but have been reading along and recording my grocery spend.
After over spending last month I've only had to get milk, fruit and veg mainly. I've started making my own bread and after a few less effective efforts (although still edible with soup!), I think I've cracked it. I add seeds to white flour but might try some new recipes for a bit of variety.
Next week I'm house sitting for family and taking DGD2 along for a few days. I'll use the grocery budget for what we eat at home but we will be having a couple of days out, so the cost of eating out will come out of the holiday budget.Grocery challenge 2025: £650/1500 annual budget6 -
Hi everyone, sorry I haven't updated in a while, our dog is better YAY!!! I really did think she was going to pass it was awful. But she is better now. So this month I had £1800 in unexpected fees (dog and car)! OUCH!
In terms of Grocery Budget, I will admit with all the stress I did lose count of some stuff but got the final figures averaging £52.50 per week - UNTIL the hubby decided we couldn't wait for a Costco run and ended up spending £100 (I don't have the exact figure but it was roughly that)which then sent me over budget by £70 for the month! However, given all the stress we went through the fact we didn't end up resorting to take aways or ready meals etc was a win. Im going to take it.
We got paid today so i'm heading over to June xEverything is always better after a cup of tea6 -
Decided to call it for May at just under £300 / £275 budget. Its over budget but its only my 2nd month back at the challenge and think I have under-estimated the cost of things! Still really happy with my effort though as it would have been lots worse if I hadn't been part of the challenge. Off to June's challenge early as I think it's easier to go from pay day to pay day rather than a calendar month!5
