1kWh per mile at 28p/kWh - it is cheaper just to use fossil fuel and leave the battery flat. I have a BMW iX3 that weighs twice as much as the composite i3 ( and 150kgs more than the heaviest X3). Driving around Wensleydale today (10C), I was getting 3.8 miles per kWh. With public charging at 35p/kWh and more in many places, the EV versus ICE decision is not easy for those who cannot access cheap EV rates.0

Their purpose is to be kinder to the environment at the point of use, not necessarily to save motorists money.
I did a 70 mile journey today, my Tesla achieved 5.63 miles per Kwh, not bad as it included some bursts of the rather enjoyable acceleration on offer.-1 -
OP could charge up 1hr per day rather than a full charge 3 times a week, if driven every day.
As its only 21 kwh a week and day time use is so high, an E7 or smart EV tariff is unlikely to help.
Investing £6K in roof top Solar would have around a 6 year payback.0 -
Question guys. I got the tapo smart plug with energy monitoring and attached to my freezer . I also had a Kaza plug which doesn't give you cost
I have attached both images/ screenshots
does this seem right, in the tapo app do I put my exchange rate is 26.54? 27 or 0.27 to round it off

Why do you want to let the app do the calculation into cost for you? If you keep track of the use in KWh that is an information you can use whatever the cusrrent unit rate is, the cost is only valid for a quarter until the SVT changes.
Don't forget that a FF has to work much harder in summer, so the energy use will be higher, whatever the current use is will not be the annual average.
So if you get to 1KWh now, let's say 35p, and 1.2KWh on a warm day in July with the unit rate lets say at 30p it will seem that the cost is identical per day at 35p, but in reality the usage is 20% higher. Looking at cost instead of usage can be easily be misleading.2 -
Ok guys, an update, i was waiting to get a months reading.
so this is my electric reading:
15th April 2023 - 62545
15 May 2023 - 62967
(i didn't do gas, my bad, but it seemed that the electric was my main cause of concern, does the above sound ok or is it still quite excessive?
my main changes have been to stop using my oil heater to heat single room, charge a hybrid car (which only had a 9-12 mile run) and i had a look at my mains board and turned off a few switches were 'ON' but don't appear to be connected to anything)

422 kWh - that's above average for a gas heated house You should be able to cut that by 100
If you've not done it already - time for a room by room inventory - include the garage, shed, attic - pond, fish tank.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -
