Halifax doesn't have a CS chat.  All the option in App does is let you call via VOIP, you still have to deal with a voice call.  They are rather behind the times in this aspect not allowing either chat or secure messages.
Halifax do have an in app customer service chat system - as do Bank of Scotland and Lloyds. I used it a couple of days ago

Is it new?  I swear I tried to contact them last year and they had nothing but voice options.

Couldn't really say, I have had an account since October last year and I think the chat option was there the whole time. That is late in the year though, so idk what they had when you tried to contact them

I managed to get my £5 credited yesterday using their chat facility on the app. Took 3 attempts over the last week to sort as i got the runaround from their Customer Service Agents.

Said i wanted to make a complaint on the 3rd chat which finally resolved the issue.
  • Had a go through the chat, my CS person wouldn't budge this time although I didn't press the issue harder than necessary. They said that they were having issues with the system and that the reward would be credited as soon as the issues had been resolved, but could not provide a timescale for this when asked.

I made sure to get them to explicitly reconfirm that the missing reward would be credited in case of any future dispute, and on that basis will follow up and escalate at some point if it does not materialise.
    Moo…

Rather than start a new thread, I thought I'd ask on this thread.

There is a £3 fee unless you pay £1500 in per month. The T&Cs do not specify, but does the !500 have to be from an external bank, or can it be from another Halifax account?

Transfers between Halifax accounts are fine.

Reward payment missing for me too. Phoned up and was told they'd had a lot of calls about this. They couldn't see any reason I shouldn't have received it. Their advice was, 'as it seems a systemwide issue to give it another couple of days', after which they reckon it would be credited.
    Not overly convinced myself though.
    £5 eventually credited 4th May

Just had a new Halifax Reward Visa Debit Card in post to replace an out of date one. I never use it except to "mine" the £5 reward via a debit card payment once a month. I believe, though it is contactless, I don`t need to activate it by making a card and pin transaction for it to be ok to do my debit card transaction? Would a change of pin at the machine count as a card and pin transaction?

You don't need to do anything for the card to be active for use in 'card not present' (online/phone) situations. Most of my Halifax debit cards have never been used physically.

You'll need to use your chip, either at an ATM or in store, in order to activate the contactless. If you go for the ATM method then just a balance check is fine - in theory I think you could even just hit 'cancel' when you get to the menu.
