Just been offered £50 if I sleep with this bloke i've known for a while. If it don't get sorted I might have to take him up on the offer. (And he is being serious!!) LOL LOL
He must be a Moneysaving expert then. :rotfl: :rotfl:Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me three times and I'll smash your face in.0 -
oh you poor thing what a terrible thing to happen
I hope it's just a mistake which can be rectified. If you explain how tight your finances are perhaps they'll make a special effort to raise a cheque for you. My work have done this before for me when I didn't get paid a few times by mistake.
No constructive help I know but here have a big <HUG>MFi3 member 105 - MFW date Oct 2023 - 12 years 9 months more0 -
Right guys I have an update and I'm in a much more calmer and rational mood!! LOL
Personnel came out of their meeting and the personnel officer, H, called me to say that I'd taken the 29/30/31 off as sick which I agreed with, but said that surely that as I'm out of the probation period I'd only get the first day taken off. Apparantly I was looking at out of date terms and conditions and that they have been updated since (but not on the system!!!) so there wasn't anything they could do. Apparantly you don't get paid for your sick at all in the first year. I then dissolved into tears and hung up on her!!!
By this time the whole of the department were crowding round me making sure I was ok and then H came downstairs and took me away to one of the private rooms. She explained that she knew how I felt and how difficult it must be as I explained my situation and how short it was going to make me especially with the pub not paying the full amount next month either and she said that she wouldn't want to see me in financial trouble so they would organise a crisis loan whereby they'd loan me the £200 and I'd pay them back at £20 a month for 10 months. At that stage I didn't see that I'd have much choice so I agreed and asked her to find out about how soon I could get it etc etc.
I calmed down and she went off to talk to Finance. Then I called my Mum and explained the problem and she went mad and said that she would give me the money. I didn't really want her to do that but she insisted.
Then H called me back and said that they could get the extra money into my account Monday whilst my wages would go in as normal tomorrow. I said that I would think about it and let her know. She also said that because I came in on the 30th but got sent home I would get paid for that as I'd made the effort to come in.
My brain was mush by this point so I escaped the office at 12 and went to see Mum who was luckily up the road at Tesco's and I found her and just dissolved into tears again. Anyway basically she gave me the £200 plus £40 to go towards the dentists tomorrow. I feel so guilty though. She hasn't a problem with money as she quite well off, made quite a success of her business so £200 is nothing for her, but I still feel bad.
What made me cry more was that she said how proud she was of me and how hard I'd worked over the past couple of years and she hated to see me like this.
Anyway I've just emailed Finance and Personnel to say I won't be requiring a loan but will I be getting the extra day back in my wages next month!! LOL
I also sent an email to H saying thank you for being so nice and for her kind words earlier.
Anyway, doesn't take the guilt away and I hope that one day I'll be able to give money back to mum, because to be quite honest this isn't the first time she has bailed me out, but because I've had my lightbulb moment and I'm trying to sort it out it makes it worse.
I just felt earlier as if I couldn't fight anymore, that I'd had enough fighting. I feel better now and less panicy, just guilty.0 -

If we cannot help our families and loved ones in times of need then there is no hope for any of us.
No need to feel guilty. One day you will be able to help someone, and it doesn't necessarily have to be in a financial way.
Glad things have worked out for you.We all evolve - get on with it0 -
What a lovely mum. I'm glad things are looking better for you.

Can they change terms and conditions of service without consultation? I thought they would either have to negotiate this or make the changes as part of an agreed package eg along with a wage increase. Dig out the terms and conditions with your original contract.
One large employer I had (years ago) wanted to make contract changes and offered them as part of a pay rise. If I recall they affected holiday entitlement. Some staff turned down the changes and gave up the pay rise. 12 years later and some staff were still on the old conditions and received much lower pay rises each year.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Don't feel guilty about having money off mum, if you view it as a loan & pay her back a bit each month.
