I'm sitting here at work and I'm crying...

So upset. I've had a bad morning as it is. My tooth broke so had to book an emergency appointment for tomorrow morning and because I'm not registered its a £50 consultation charge before even you get treatment.
And then the biggest blow of all, got my wage slip from my full time job and they have taken £200 off my wages for 3 days that I took off sick! Now I've been here over six months so I should get paid for my sick apart from the first day which I DON'T get paid for! But now I have this horrible feeling that for the first year I don't get paid for sick.
To make matters worse I apparantly got overpaid from my second job last month by about 12 hours, I didn't notice, I assumed they included shifts that I'd covered for other people in it. Anyway turns out I've worked the past week for 'free' in effect and I lost two shifts earlier on in the month because I was moving so I got someone else to cover.
So basically I'm £200 down on main wages which covers my debts so I'm awfully overdrawn by the middle of the month according to my budget planner and I'm about another £100 down on my pub wages which is what I use to live on.
I can't stop shaking and Personnel at full time job have just gone into a team meeting and they won't deal with it until after the meeting!!!
I'm so scared. What the hell am I going to do if they don't give me some money back. Can't stop shaking.

No they didn't, and I can't concentrate all I'm doing sitting here thinking about it.
My next port of call is to check out the policy on sick. In future even if I'm dying I'm going to come into the office. I'm so scared cause if they don't pay it I can't pay the rent!!!!!!!!!!! My boss thinks i'm being overdramatic I think - but he is a millionare so doesn't have a clue.0 -
As a last resort & if you truly can't manage, you could ask for a sub (most places will do it) but as you have to repay it you may not be any better off next month unless you can squeeze a few more shifts in at the pub.
Good luck at the dentist.Tallyhoh! Stopped Smoking October 2000. Saved £29382.50 so far!0 -
Hello
Look in to State Statutory Benefit sick pay, you should be entitled to this. Some employers do have restrictions on how long you have to work with them until you are covered for full sick pay with them this should be in your T & C's.
You would have to file the relevant paper work for reimbursement for the SSP and give this to either your manager or the finance department.
Hope this helps you.

SSP isn't payable for the first 3 days of sickness though.0

Right - found the terms and conditions. I've been here 10 months nearly 11 and the probation was for 6 months so I'm long out of it. The T&C's say:
During the probationary period sick pay will not be paid for any period absence. AFter successful completion of the probationary period, the first day of each period of absence will not be paid but employees may be entitled to be paid Statuory Sick Pay, if eligible.
So what happened was I had a terrible cold that had been going round the office so I took Monday 29th October off. I came in on Tuesday 30th for about an hour before the boss sent me home and then I was off Wednesday 31st before returning to work Thursday 1st Nov.
So I have clarified it with my line manager that I should have only had the Monday 29th taken off. BUT the girls in my team are saying they don't raise cheques for mistakes and I'd have to make it through the month, but I can't. Its xmas !!!!!!. *sighs*0 -
