Cant comment directly on this as not a cat owner but hear me out - there's a debate on sainsburys mince that has changed to being packaged differently, and people say its harder to cook etc (needs a lot more agitation to break up the lumps etc etc).
Wondering if this is a similar situation - where this new vacuum packing process is having an impact on food texture etc (although that first set of pictures from solid meat to water is very odd).

That "new" packaged food doesn't look like the adverts on facebook I keep getting thrust at me for some reason.  Recent trustpilot reviews have switched from positive to negative i see as well.

  • Looking at the photos it's clearly not the same product
The ingredient might well be the same  but it's how it's cooked.
It's like ordering a  pancake and getting a Yorkshire pudding,

A the guide might as well state "starve your cat and then they might eat it"

I'm not a cat person  but all the cats I've known quickly eat anything new if it's tasty.

I can testify that the vacuum packed mince  comes out as one mass , with no discernible pieces of minced beef

It has to be broken up as it cooks.  Tastes the same but looks very different.

It's New Coke all over again!

I'm not quite sure of the ins and outs of consumer rights when changing a product on a subscription but if I got that slop instead of the chunky meat in the first photo I'd be demanding a refund too.

How can they claim that the recipe is the same if the cooking method has changed? A recipe is more than just a list of ingredients.

If they are accurate, that's hilarious.  One looks like coarse pate, the other like ice cream.
Could you let me know what ice cream you buy so I am avoid it! ;)

That is the nature of vacuum packing. Squashes everything inside up & mince will do that nicely, meatballs anyone?

Perhaps this is the problem with this cat food. Vacuum packing is squeezing all the excess water out of the cooked food, so once thawed out it becomes this runny mess, compared to the old product which will have retained the water in the product.🤷‍♀️

Some times this need to change packaging to satisfy the green lobby is not worth it.

Just like the Sainsburys mince. The packaging while it can be recycled, the majority of local councils do not have the facility to do this. So it will go either in landfill or be incinerated.
So one is doing their bit, but the other is not...
