HMRC Return 2023

Same situation, unusual for me since starting self-assessment so I'm in unfamiliar territory... I am due a repayment of about £300, but the system says "HM Revenue and Customs will add this amount to your Self Assessment statement of account" - sounds like they will keep it to offset against what I might owe them in the future? Which is not what I wanted. If I go to "request a repayment" it says I don't have anything to request. Will this sort itself out after processing or do I have to take some further action to get it so that I can request repayment?

Mine doesn’t say that just says not yet used it let me request the payment for the amount just never seen the not yet used before and been doing it for 6 years or so now

Did you do your tax return today or yesterday

I checked my account this morning says not yet used but would let me request payment anyone ever had this please never seen it say not yet used before thanks

Is it normal for it to say that then as never seen it say not yet used before

I did it yesterday

I submitted my return yesterday morning at about 8.45am and my repayment is today showing as "Repayment pending".  I didn't need to explicitly request it.

Under "Payments" I can see a line dated 31 January 2024, saying "Overpayment from tax return for tax year ending 05 Apr 2023", and then under "Repayments" I can see the same amount with the date "Pending" and description "Bank repayment pending".

So in my case, it was added to my balance, but then a repayment was automatically generated.

Yea it’s normal till you request a repayment
