You should really have checked the wikipedia link I posted. Compares the 3 FREE ones with recent tests and shows the statistics. If you're choosing a virus scanner you want to know the numbers right? At least I do...
And there's no arguments in statistics. When a table shows exactly what is what with 3 free virus scanner's, opinions don't come into it. It all then depends on what the user wants from the free virus scanner.
So for me if Anti-Vir detects more malware and viruses. Then that's all that I need in my virus scanner and its the best option.
If there are any good paid for ones like Nod, i'm not interested as free will do a good enough job for me[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]"The internet is a great way to get on the net."

I might have checked if you others weren't quite so contradictory to your original argument.
If you're happy with it, good for you.0 -
Being the OP of this thread, I almost fell off my chair when I returned and saw 13 pages of posts. Somehow I must have clicked in something in options and reduced posts to 5 per page !!!!!!!!!now how do I resolve that?
done it, am using 20, is that average? This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Yes islandman sounds about right
Donnie, you really need to be more open in your opinions. Being closed will only damage one person, and that's yourselfIf you're not even going to look at things to support an argument, then there is none really!
I'm trying to advise on the best software, and there was one link in particular which factually showed that. You're quite blatently refusing to look at that..... It's not a healthy debate when one person is refusing to listen to the other personAnd it shows...

So, you now want me to view the one link that might support your argument and ignore the ones that may contradict it?
You obviously can't appreciate the irony of your posts. Contradictory every one.0 -
Donnie, I haven't said anything to contradict myself
Your simply twisting words instead of using your own evidence to support an argument.. (That's not very good!)
All the links shows statistics and facts about all the virus scanners. And they're unbiased.
Some may be more relevant to my argument than others... but of course I want to show facts to support my views. That's what a healthy debate is!!! And I'm very sure everyone reading would agree...
By the way happy ChristmasStill in Thailand?

I think that you think, that you are being smart. I don't concur.0

Also note that review is over 1 year old.Donnie,
the test failure is irelevant as its a year old.
Yet the very link that you requested me to check (wiki?) has results that are years old.
Contradictory?
Contrary to your assertions, it is the 'wiki' article which has been referenced throughout my posts.
If you had bothered to scrutinize the content within the link, rather than desperately trying to find links that support your biased opinion, you would have noted that fact.
Take a look at post #56 to see the article to which I have been referring all along.
It's Merry Christmas.
Have a good one. I have a few months holiday. I'll go back when the weather improves in the UK.0 -
*sigh*
This topic is simply to answer one very easy question. A question which is asked a lot. People have agreed with me, so does the internet and evidence backs my view, that as far as free anti virus scanners go, Anti-Vir detects the most viruses and is less problamatic than the rest.
I'm not the only one to recommend it. Everyone has different preferences though, so neither of us will ever agree with each other.... But until you provide me with factual evidence that Anti-Vir is worse than the other free scanners (since April 2007, which was the date for the tests on the wiki link, thus confusing me to your "old versions" story) then I certainly won't change my opinion.
Weather improve in the UK? Shame we'll never see you back here then as long as these so called summers keep appearing.... heh[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]"The internet is a great way to get on the net."
