I have to admit I've never been a great one for 'future' plans -past events have now make me think more about 'now'.
One day we may move to a smaller place but until then this is our home and it'll be how we want it to be. If we didn't put our mark on it albeit it with second hand furniture and what I call 'organised' clutter (not mentioning stuff in junk rooms etc..............lol more like the stuff hanging on the walls which we both love so much................well, it wouldn't be a home would, just another house in a terraced row.
We change stuff around, replace what we get bored with and its nothing like how it was when we first moved in, even after we'd 'made our mark'.
Tastes change as we do. and what we liked 20 years ago is different to what we like now............still what I'd call 'shabby chic' (just plain shabby to some folk I'm sure). We've gone from a lot of stripped pine to a few bits and the rest painted to suit whatever colour fits in with the room.
I love the idea that our home can change with us..................:j

I read somewhere a long time ago that your house should 'support and reflect your own way of living and lifestyle' rather than be a showcase for other people to admire. I have kept that in mind ever since. It's what YOU like to see, what YOU like to have around you, otherwise you are never going to be happy in it. (I suppose it should also be your own idea of how clean/tidy it should be and how much clutter.) If you dare keep your own counsel on this, it can save you a lot of stress and money........

This is a lovely calm quote that I pass every day on my way to work and it's outside our local Quaker meeting room. I like its simplicity and the fact that it could be applied to almost any area of your life:
Be open to new light wherever it might come from.

'Each life needs its own quiet place'

Very true at the minute............one of our lads has gone off back to his mums having been late, missing buses and all sorts last night...........Now I have to ring the emergency duty team to fetch him back.............quiet he will not be !

(Goes off with spade to dig hole somewhere............anywhere.................lol)

Seriously, I'll make the necessary phone calls then retire to the sofa and get absorbed in the tele..................bliss.........for now.:j

I know nothing about being a Quaker, but I imagine there to be to be such a calmness in it!! we never did alternative religion when I was at school, that would have been very interesting (although I probably wouldnt have thought so when I was at school!)

I remember when I watched the film 'Witness' thinking how peaceful a lifestyle the Armish people had.
Not sure I'd cope with the hard work but the calmness of mind would be welcome to a lot of folk I'm sure.

    Hello lovely people,
The sprinkle of sunshine this morning pulled me into the garden and I managed to do some decluttering in the shed and some planning for the veg garden. The ground is too soggy to do digging yet but that didnt stop the dog. my garden has beeen a great comfort to me for the last few years. Work in the garden cant be hurried, i have to go at natures pace. There is a limit to what can be controlled (especially if you garden organically) and some things are just meant to be. Hopefully I can be out inthe garden a little more this year than last!
