    Hi all,

One day I will declutter and make my life simple! My first step is that I no longer buy things unless I really have to...underwear is pretty shot and will definitely need replacement before I head off to Australia in May!

    Marie

When I took my long trip to Australia I took my grey underwear with me and just binned each one after wearing. That way I got rid of the knickers after one last use and lightened the load of my case at the same time - left room for presents.

And I had a lovely stack of pristine white ones waiting for me when I got back with no washing.

Oh I'm getting that excited !! Sounds daft I know but just been next door.........they're going to have a new kitchen and I can have their old one for our 'junk room' that leads off the kitchen.
So it'll be out with the old wardrobe that houses OH's tools in a big heap, and out with the small drawers that store next to nothing.................lol
What an incentive to have a good clear out in that room..................lol
Neighbour has got another cupboard and I was tempted but think I'll keep the old oak sideboard I've got in there already...........more sturdy and practical.
Oh I'm that thrilled..................just got to break it to OH now he's back from the pub:j

OH says ALL the furniture in junk room needs to come out !!!!! That was his first reaction but managed to get him round to de-cluttering stuff in drawers/cupboards first, then dragging out the furniture we don't want.............lol

    Sounds great, Mary

    Have told OH.........................lol
Least now I'll have a real incentive to clear stuff out and be a bit more organised in that room otherwise its just wasted space.............good place to dry the washing as the boilers in there but such a mess !!!!
Walls are a bit 'iffy'.............one wall plastered, the rest painted brickwork so I'll have to put some more paint on them (or rather OH will or one of the kids..........lol). Oh I can't wait now...................lol
Oh lor...........forgot to ask about their worktop...........oh well, OH can soon get a plank of wood from his boss.

    ...

Sounds great, will make a big difference by the sounds of it - and will you bag some of this extra space for storage of toiletries and cleaning (not food as you're drying washing)??? ;)
... don't throw the string away. You always need string! :D

All the space is earmarked for paint, wallpaper and tools rosieben,& mop and bucket, plus might put some gardening bits in there that are at the moment cluttering the shelves in the back porch...........plant food, hand tools, stuff like that.
All the food and cleaning stuffs already in the actual kitchen and they'll stay there.
I bet when I come to clear it all out there will be 'discussions' (we never call them rows.......lol) over why I want to keep odd bits of wallpaper..............lol

  • Hello there,

I haven't been about for a while as I have been working and have only just caught up with the thread, but what struck me is how much we are all gaining through simplifying on this forum.

    Thought-provoking conversations
    Different points of view
    New ideas
    Virtual friends
    Inspiring quotes

It was lovely to spend a few moments seeing how everyone is getting on.

My simplifiying has slowed down in the past few weeks as I have been busy, but I am getting there slowly and enjoying life too, which is a definite bonus.:j:j:j

Take care and I'll be back again as soon as I can.
By the way, has anyone noticed any signs of Spring yet?
    :hello:

Enjoying life is I think one of the most important things we can do. We owe it to ourselves as well as others.
Signs of spring so far are pots of mini daffs on the kitchen window sill........lol

This thread is wonderful. It's strenghtened my resolve to retire at 60. I know I'll have less money but with no mortgage and no debt I'll just "cut my cloth". Life is too short not to have some time to do what you want even if it's only getting up and going to bed when it suits you rather than having a "rat race" time table.

Theres a lot of us about lilac lady :D ie determined not to work on past retirement age..... life's too short and theres too many other interesting things to do/people to meet.

At this rate....I might just start with a Grand Tour of Britain meeting OS'ers at coffeeshops en route - probably in rather a lot of places en route.:rotfl:
