If you google ‘household notebook’ you will get loads of things to check out but I would suggest a look at these –
Moggins household manual
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/...ns+househo ld
http://organizedhome.com/ this one has printable sheets

Is this what you were looking for ?
Just checking through the endless notebooks I have and I've got an 'Organiser' book.............really glorified address/birthday/book with 4 pages for each month (one being a 'notes' page, christmas/birthday card and presents lists..............I remembered when I picked it up from the charity shop telling myself I'd keep it for next year and start using it then.......I only got it in March..........so two months had gone. But really you could create your own book to suit your needs.Mary

I was hoping that someone might be able to help me please - does anyone remember much earlier in the thread when we were talking about journals, and someone posted a link to a lovely journal that was made from an old French book? I bookmarked it at the time but can't for the life of me find it, either on my PC or in here
If anyone could help me locate it I'd be really grateful. Many thanks.
Was it this one?

I remember it too, I think we must have been wandering off MSE, into the blogosphere0 -
Charis - that must be the one and what a lovely book it is. Wonder if you can still buy them ? A book like that would be a joy to use.
Well, I've just come back from seeing my counsellor..........don't really feel like de-cluttering as planned. I always feel a bit drained when I come back.
Some good ideas though..............I shredded Mums letters yesterday and Big Bruvs e mails that were so nasty and it did me a power of good so counsellor suggested that when something makes me feel angry or upset, to write it all down and then shred it ...........thus physically removing it. Certainly sounds well worth a try. Writing things down is great therapy and if the bad things are got rid of afterwards..............who knows.......just might get them out of my head.Mary

Hi All :hello:
good for you Mary43 rest first the world later - thats my new motto!
on the simplifying front I have no progress to report.... I do still have a bag of clothes that I have been meaning to ebay and have not (for the last 4 months at least!) the simple answer would be - charity shop or freecycle some of it is very nice though (hence the reluctance!)
anyway I better dash:j Where there is a will there is a way - there is a way and I will find it :j0 -
eBay is a real pain in the arm. I was recently mugged of by PayPal - apparently someone got a hold of my details and stole almost £100 - lucky it was only my debit card. Luckily, the bank gave my money back.RPoints : £10 But VERY Slow:mad: Slice The Pie : £5:A WritersShare : £1:eek: Treasure Trooper : $5 (Need $20!)
eCasher : 0.15:beer:

do it today - love the motto..................I know what you mean about the reluctant feeling with nice clothes.........some of mine are like that (not many mind you) and because I like them they tend to stay put in the wardrobe even though I don't wear them ! Daft really but I keep thinking I just 'might'.........one day, start wearing something better than the things I slob about the house in.................
spider - I've never bought or sold on e bay since I heard a few reports about it from someone ages ago, it sort of put me off.Least if I shove what I've got in the charity shops or freecycle it I don't have the worry about any money changing hands..........or not.
Good for you that the bank gave you your money back. What about your details though ? That's a scary thought that someone could have got away with it.
Been an afternoon of getting into a major flap.........not just me........OH as well. He went off to get a photocopy of the builders quote and some shopping. Gets to the photocopy shop and he's lost the quote !! He retraced his steps and no luck so got in a right state. If only he'd taken his phone with him I could have rung him and told him someone had obviously found it and popped it through out door !
Then there was me, getting into a state over my specs !! Came back from counselling and thought I'd left my specs behind. (Have a habit of taking them off and forgetting where they are!) The specs I had on I felt must be an old pair I picked up by mistake maybe, or were they someone elses?? Whichever way, vision was somewhat distorted by these wretched varifocals ! Found the pair I had before these and they were no better so thought it must be my eyes.............have now phoned for appt to have my specs looked at in case they need adjusting in any way and a possible eye test if needed. But I only had these last October so surely I don't need any more yet ??? I don't know.
Then the man to check the ele/gas meter cos we've changed tariff didn't show and we made sure either me or OH was here all the time.........rang them up..........was put in a queue (why do they always do that??) and in the end OH did the meter readings but I was told to ring a freephone number tomorrow to check why they hadn't come when I had a letter specifically saying todays date........and if they've failed to do it (which they have) then I should get £20 as a token gesture/apology !! Least thats what the lady said. So, all may not be lost...........and funny enough I can see ok out of my specs now......................lol
OH is suffering with his back from weeks ago when he tumbled down the stairs and has said he'll go to the doctors tomorrow if its no better............bet he won't but we'll see...............plus he's going on about his sinuses...................oh my............what a household !!
Ex foster lad is coming up tomorrow to trim a plant at the front of the house and plant some bulbs for us and do anything else we need doing -thank goodness. He gives me a degree of sanity back....................lol unlike the lad we've got here who stayed out all night refusing to tell me where he was, turns up at 5pm and now being nice as pie, told me where he'd been and just might be getting back together with his girlfriend...........thank goodness..........she just might keep him in check.............lolMary

That sounds like a good idea mary. What I've done before now is write the "stuff" down and set fire to it and visualise the hassle/problem going up in smoke and dispersing to the four winds. Just one little caution - out of doors, not in, the burning smoke smell DOES hang around so:D0 -
Well - and this has come sooner than I expected - just as well I changed my signature to what has turned out to be unexpectedly topical today.
Before I spotted this today I was going round thinking about the fact that we are all going to have to get used to living a lot more "locally" than we are doing at present. Living more locally is indeed a part of Simple Living. Its hardly a "simple" lifestyle to spend a couple of hours per day or more commuting to a distant job. The plus side to dropping lengthy commutes to work is, of course, lots more of ones leisure time for oneself.
I have been thinking that its time petrol rationing was introduced to help combat the use of biofuel for filling peoples cartanks and to help "spin out" the oil we have available for as long as possible - so, hopefully, there will be some left for our children and our childrens children.
I favour a ration of 50 miles per household per week for those in urban areas (ie towns and cities) with a sliding scale to allow proportionately more for those living in more rural areas (so as not to disadvantage those living "in the back of beyond"). Taxis and public transport to be exempt.
I feel it is time we consigned such concepts as "going for a ride" in a car or using cars for journeys that we could walk in less than 30 minutes to the history books. Peoples perception as to when its necessary to use a car would alter dramatically if there were a fuel ration for them.
Anyways - I went into my personal email elsewhere today and had my attention drawn to the following in a blog I follow personally:
http://transitionculture.org/
(the gist of the Guardian article - in case the link stops working from the 15 April entry I am drawing attention to is that the U.K. Govt has today decreed all petrol must contain a proportion of biofuel by law).0
